Giveaways and Reviews

Saplings Sustainable Kids Decor (closed)

I love how Saplings Sustainable Kids Decor came to be. It started as a chat between two neighbors over the fence, don’t you love that? Through my experiences with many companies while writing this blog, I’m continually inspired by the stories of how companies got their start. I love hearing how people have an idea, a vision, and team up together to create something magnificent.

Three W’s are important to the owners of this company:

Who made this?
What is it made from?
Where was it made?

When choosing items for their store, the owners of Saplings Sustainable Kids Decor have done the research and answered these questions for you. All products are adult made and support fair trade. Based in British Columbia Canada, the company strives to support people from BC as much as possible which I think is fabulous! There’s more information right on the site answering the 3 important W questions.

I was able to review a print from Vancouver artist and mom of three Liz Clay. Looking for something outside the usual mass-marketed prints seen in most stores? As much as my kids love their favorite movies and characters, having a framed picture in their room of one of these characters, to me, just doesn’t make the room look as special as it should. I love having a unique piece on the wall that sparks discussion with my son particularly, or visitors who see it and comment. Liz Clay is a graduate of the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design and clearly has a talent for children’s art.

I picked the Animal Fire Squad print. It’s an 8’10 print that is signed and dated by the artist which is really cool (not so much for my 4 year old but it’s impressive to me). The white matte border that comes with it is a nice touch and makes it ready for framing. The colors are brilliant and the scene is adorable!

Saplings Sustainable Kids Decor has generously offered the chance for 1 reader to win their choice of any Liz Clay print from their site! To enter, just go to Saplings Sustainable Kids Decor and comment here telling me which Liz Clay print you would pick if you won.
