Mandy, from Madi Couture, is a mama after my own heart! I get to talk to so many amazing creative people when seeking out new companies (most of them women) and every so often I find another mama that I click with and instantly the whole process changes from reviewing a product to wanting to do as much as I can to promote a company and a mama I think deserves as much buzz as possible.
Could it be because she is based in Calgary, Alberta (Go Canadian companies! Go Western Canada!) Maybe. Could it be because she worked in retail, in heels, while pregnant and believes that moms shouldn’t give up fashion for function? Maybe. Could it be because she has some items that make me drool on her site? Yeah, that could be it too! Mostly, it’s because Mandy has a great eye for fashion, trends, and customer service. You really can’t beat that.
This past year or so, I developed a love of handbags. I was never like this before, I had a few that I would rotate through and…gasp…use the same bag for like…a year. I know, I have completely fallen off the fashion catwalk and into the mommy comfort zone. Then, it was like the clouds lifted and suddenly handbags became a bit of an obsession. I’m a mom at the end of it all, so I still need a bag bigger than my foot to carry the essentials. I’ve learned that I can have style without giving up function and still have a fabulous looking bag.
Mandy, being a fashionista mama herself, sent me a Mimi & Marge handbag to review! I choose the 2701 Handbag in brown. Of course, the size appealed to me right away but I loved the overall look of this bag!
Measuring 16″ lengthwise, and 10″ high (including the strap), this bag means business!
I liked that it has a zip closure, because the bag I was using before this one had no closure at all, so I was always paranoid about someone reaching into it. The inside features a cell phone pocket and an inside zipper for lipstick and other mom essentials. It looks like leather but is actually PVC and PU fabrication.

There’s so much to say about Madi Couture. The site covers it all from baby clothes, to items for mom, to items for little ones wanting to be like mom. Mandy is always adding new items and what I liked about her site is that you’re not going to find the same items that other websites have (you know the usual bibs, shoes, etc). Those items are great but Madi Couture really is a site with a focus and I can appreciate that.
