Picaflor Kids is the creation of mom Nancy Coronado from Portland, Oregon. If the name sounds familiar, it may be because she’s also part of the creative duo behind Eleven Shoes (co-creative-mind is See Kai Run’s Cause Haun. Coronado’s creative spark is evident in her fabulous line of infant and children’s knitwear.
Each luxurious collection is hand-crafted in Coronado’s home country of Peru, and a percentage of profits are directed to children’s charities in Peru.
Looking at the collection online does not do justice to the quality and beauty of the items when holding them in your own hands. I was fortunate to be able to choose an item for both my kids to review, and picked matching items made with the same fabric (I’m always thinking of staging photos with my kids and having matching fabric like this is a thrill for me). I chose the hoodie in espresso (it also comes in cranberry, pink and navy so it can be worn by boys and girls alike) and the london sweater coat in espresso as well.
Seeing the item online, I knew it would be knit and the way it was described I knew it would be luxurious but seeing it in person….they’re truly beautiful pieces of clothing. Soft to the touch and with a hint of sheen to them, both the hoodie and the london sweater coat make my kids look dressed up, even when paired with khakis or a pair of jeans.
Even though the london sweater coat is from the Fall 2008 collection, it’s going to make a great asset to my daughter’s Spring wardrobe. After seeing the espresso coat for myself, I think the pink one would be absolutely adorable paired with an Easter dress this spring. Actually, being that I am such a fan of pink and brown, I think this sweater coat is going to look beautiful layered with a pink Easter dress, open at the collar. I like the versatility of it too; it can be worn with jeans or a dress. The size I have for Nevaeh is a 2T but the only place it was a little long was in the arms – otherwise I liked the longer length of the coat.
My son hammed it up in the espresso hoodie in size 5T. Again, this is a great item to layer with a t-shirt or with a long sleeve dress-shirt (I think a white collar would look so sharp peeking out at the top). I love that he can look dressed up in a hoodie (there is a hood, and therefore I can convince him that it’s a casual shirt, no big deal, when I need him looking good for a special occasion).
I’m so excited to tell you that 1 lucky reader is going to be able to pick either the london sweater coat or the hoodie in the size and color of their choice!
