My name is Tenille, and I’m a stay at home mom of 2! My son is 5 and my daughter is 2. People call a family with a boy and girl a “million dollar family”. I’m not sure if they realize the irony in that, because it certainly feels like it could cost a million dollars to raise one of each sex (and I know moms of more than 2 kids are nodding their heads here as well). It’s very hard to pass down clothing between opposite sex siblings and while some toys are easy to hold onto, others are very gender specific.
Add to it the cost of raising children in general, and most moms are left a little shaken…a little stirred (where’s my Cosmo?)
I know my job within the home is to provide for my children and husband, keep the house from looking like a disaster hit it (good luck with that) and making sure everyone is healthy and happy! I also feel that being a stay at home mom, my job is to make our dollar go as far as it can. I do all the banking, and I’m very aware of where we’re at financially each month. I wish I could say I was one of those genius moms who lives without debt but that isn’t the reality. I’m just like everyone else.
I came up with the name for my blog after thinking about what I would use to describe who I am. I’m definitely feisty. Ask any of my friends (or my husband!) and they will tell you that I’ve got an attitude and know how to use it. I’m passionate about fighting for the underdog, and protecting my family and friends. I’m frugal, there’s no doubt about that. I’m always using coupons, finding the best deal I can, and learning about consumer shopping tips. Of course, I am definitely fabulous!
If I’m going to spend money on something new for my children, there are few things that are essential. First, the product must be safe. Second, the product must be of good quality (there’s just no sense in buying something I will have to replace). Third, it should be ‘good’ for my children, in that it should stimulate, educate, or just be plain FUN! The same criteria holds true for items for myself, although if they happen to make me look extra fabulous that is a perk too!
