I am having such a great time with this Christmas Event! Through this process I have met some great company representatives and product creators (some really amazing people). One mommy-entrepreneur that I met and absolutely adore is Elaine at Easy Daysies. As a classroom teacher, Elaine used visual daily schedules to help her students plan their day. They also become very effective with special needs students. Over time, parents asked Elaine if she could make similar schedules for them to have at home. It was during this time that Elaine realized that many parents could use her visual schedules at home to help their children throughout the day. Having a visual schedule has been known to help children feel safe, confident, and in control of their day. Knowing what’s next can calm anxieties in children and give them a sense of calm.
This is how Easy Daysies came to be! Now Elaine herself has 3 children (including a baby born just 10 weeks ago) and is so excited to be able to launch Easy Daysies across Canada and the US. Yes, US shoppers can purchase Easy Daysies as well (with the dollar conversion, US customers really win in this one!) Urban Baby and Toddler Magazine’s parent test panel loved Easy Daysies and will be featuring them in their Winter 2008 issue!
So what is Easy Daysies all about? Here is a quick glimpse of what is in the Easy Daysies Kit. There are magnets for many daily activities both in and outside the home.
My son Elijah, who is 4, was so excited for us to plan our day, and we started using them just before dinner on the day I received them. The result was fantastic – Elijah went to the fridge to see what was next and didn’t whine or complain when it was time for brushing his teeth and bed because he knew it was coming!
That night when he went to bed, I took out the magnets and planned out the next day. Before my husband and I were even out of bed the following morning, Elijah had already checked the Easy Daysies schedule on the fridge and came into our room announcing that he had school later that day, but first he needed to have breakfast, brush his teeth, and have play time! It was priceless. This is definitely a child who thrives on schedules and visual aides! We have had this set in our house for about a week now and Elijah is completely absorbed in it. Each night when he goes to bed he reminds me to “put up my jobs” on the fridge for the next day. I no longer have the whiney, “Mommy what are we doooooooing todaaaaaaaay?” because he already knows. Sure, he asks for a playdate when the magnet isn’t on there, but I remind him that when we have a playdate I will let him know by placing the magnet on the fridge.
Christmas Gift Idea! My friends and relatives who are teachers gently ask you please no more #1 Teacher ornaments or coffee mugs this year. I felt guilty when I was told by my teacher friend that she doesn’t really use her ornaments and mugs that she gets because they really do pile up year after year, because I have purchased those before! Here is a chance to get your child’s nursery school or elementary teacher a great gift that they can use year after year in the classroom. Have a mom-group exchange and not sure what to get? Easy Daysies is so functional and useful, I think any mom would be impressed with a thoughtful gift like this (I know I would…toys break and get left in the toy box, this is something I can use!)
Easy Daysies is having a Christmas Sale on right now for that very reason. You can save $10 on the basic kit (making it very reasonable as a teacher gift or gift-exchange item) or save $25 on a pair of kits (one for you, one as a gift!)
Easy Daysies also has a fundraising program. If you are a teacher, on a board, or a parent who thinks this would work as a great fundraiser, check out the Fundraising link on the Easy Daysies site.
Elaine wants to share Easy Daysies with Feisty Frugal and Fabulous readers. You all have the chance to win 1 set of Easy Daysies!!
