When I found this company, it was one of those mommy moments where you think to yourself, “Genius, now why didn’t I think of that?” The event that brought about the creation of this product by Patricia Mandarino is something that has happened to me!
Patricia was driving with her daughter Marilyn when Marilyn discovered she could release herself from her seat belt by pushing the button. This prompted Patricia to create a product that would keep children safe, keep them from undoing their own seat belts and putting themselves at risk. The result was the Angel Guard invention!
The Angel Guard is a plastic cover that goes over the seat belt release button making it impossible for little hands to push. However, adult hands can easily slip it off to unlatch a child. It has also been tested by emergency personal for its ease in removing when needed.
I was so glad that I could try this product. My 4 year old, Elijah, surprised my husband and I this past summer when, on a road trip, he popped in between our conversation in the front seat! He had unbuckled himself without us even hearing him, and who knows how long he had been unsecured or if he had done it before. He got a stern talking to but you know how kids are…in one ear and out the other sometimes!
I liked how easy the Angel Guard was to put on the seat belt release, and also how I could match it to my interior (it comes in tan, black, or grey) so it blended in. There was no way Elijah could get unbuckled (I made him try!!) yet it was easy for my husband, who didn’t know I had put it on, to remove (I just asked him to get Elijah out of the car).
I especially liked the price! A pair of clips is only $15.99 and Patricia ships for free anywhere in the world! As the site says, “Is 5 seconds too long to help protect your child?”
I really liked this product! I have decided not to use it for every day travels as that isn’t when the seat belt issue is there, but for long road trips where he is prone to get bored and antsy, this will definitely be part of our packing protocol.
Patricia would like Feisty, Frugal, and Fabulous readers to have the chance to try out the Angel Guard system as well. She has offered up a pair of Angel Guard seat belt release covers to one lucky reader.
