{Enhancing} The Shape of You

This weekend, I was busy overhauling my closet and posting items for sale on local buy/sell sites, before I drop the remaining off at a consignment store. I have determined that, while I kept some too-small clothing in my closet through the years in hopes of fitting it again, I do not want to fit my now too-big clothing again, and one way to prevent that is to not have it available there. Should the 27 pounds I lost start to creep back on, it’s going to hurt my bank account too.

I’m having a blast purchasing new clothes for spring this year, surprising myself with the sizing, and determining my new style. One remnant of the 27 pounds is that I tend to lean toward flowing, loose, blouses and tops. My sister keeps nudging me to wear more form-fitting tops, but my brain is still 27 pounds behind, when I wanted to prevent seeing the muffin top. Sure, you definitely feel the fabric hugging your legs, just like they would in yoga pants, but just a bit more. And the waist is spectacular!

These capris are perfect for going from the gym to lunch, or maybe in the opposite order (ha!) and also great for day-to-day wear with a tunic or dress while out and about. I love tunics and treat many dresses as such because I’m not sure how some of them qualify as dresses on the rack (one gust of wind and it’s all over!)

Let’s be real here and while this goes without saying I’ll say it – these are not miracle pants. Shapewear is there to enhance your figure and smooth out those “wobbly bits”. The body work is done ahead of time in the kitchen and through exercise. It continues to surprise me when people look for miracles where they don’t exist. Shapewear won’t make you lose 10 pounds, or appear to do so in my opinion. What it will do is help enhance what you’ve already put in the work for, by smoothing out your silhouette. Happy shopping!
