A few weeks ago, I shared news of our partnership with Home Depot Canada to take our main bathroom from 2000 to 2014! Our tiles were uuuuugly and it was time to make our bathroom fabulous with new, modern, glass tiles.
Thankfully, my job is to be the designer and my husband’s job is to do all the rest! We discovered a surprise right at the start – our old tiles were glued onto the wall. Yes. Glue. So, in pulling them off the rest of the wall came with it. We ended up having to re-drywall the entire tub surround which took us back a few steps before we even started!
However, now we’re trucking along and the surround is almost finished on the tub (grouting is happening today!) I’ve been sharing some progress pictures on Instagram and Twitter but in case you missed them, here you go! Next? The shower surround!

Wow! That looks like a big job but definitely was worth it in the end!
Now that’s motivation! My husband and I bought new taps for the bathroom , the one that is one circle. We wanted it put in the middle and it was like 2 inches from the tap, then he tried stealing the spout we had and swapping it for one of his. W still don’t have the one we purchased on. We have to re-do the grout because the me he replaces is smaller and off white. Oh ya and it was a family friend an old neighbour. His business is home renovating. So not cool. Then about 6 months ago our bathroom vanity lights stopped working. Replacing the bulbs didnt work. Luckily we had lights from our other bathroom renovation. So we got the lights working. Now a piece of drywall is covering the hole not even nailed in. My husband has hurt his shoulder, leg and broke his finger at work. Thinking I may have to do it myself! Lol.

Quite an ambitious reno! I’m sure it will look amazing when it’s finished. We need to revamp our downstairs bathroom and I love what you’ve done with the tiles.

Those are the troubles you run into when doing renos in a house. We have done that in 3 of the houses we owned up to now. Still working at it and I will be glad when its all done. You never know when you look and think it will be such an easy job, until you get started. You never know what is underneath or behind something until its too late and then you end up with a bigger job than you anticipated. Been there done that. Its nice when its done but a real pain when it turns into a bigger job that you thought. Good luck with your renos.
