New Kellogg’s All-Bran Cranberries & Clusters (the kid’s new favourite cereal!)

All Bran Cranberries and ClustersWe’re fortunate that our three kids are pretty good little eaters. I’m also going to ensure we take some credit for that! We simply don’t allow our kids to be picky – they have to at least try a food they may not be sure about, and we ensure they fill up on snacks like cheese strings and fruit instead of gummy fruit snacks and potato chips (besides, the potato chips are mine!)

We don’t keep sugary breakfast cereals in the house )because it’s me who will have to ensure them at 10:30 when the sugar crash happens!) and therefore our kids already love some pretty awesome cereals in our pantry.  I was sure that they’d be interested in trying new All-Bran Cranberries & Clusters when we were sent some boxes to try, but I didn’t expect them to like it as much as they do!

Actually, after trying it ourselves my husband and I agree – what’s not to love? Toasted bran flakes with a lightly sweet vanilla flavour are tossed with tangy ruby red cranberries and crunchy multi-grain clusters!  Yum!  I was also really happy to see that a “clusters” cereal didn’t contain any nuts so my daughter (who has a nut-allergy) could eat this as well.

“The importance of fibre to overall health is well documented, yet we know Canadians simply aren’t getting enough. That’s why at Kellogg, we are always looking for innovative new ways to bring the nutritional and digestive health benefits of wheat bran fibre to consumers,” says Andrew Loucks, Vice President, Marketing, Kellogg Canada Inc. “New Kellogg’s All-Bran Cranberries & Clusters cereal is a delicious way for Canadians to get the fibre they need with a taste they are sure to love.”

Kellogg Company was the first company to introduce a high fibre cereal and continues to be a leader in global research and fostering consumer understanding about the benefits of fibre. Unfortunately, Canadians are not getting enough of this important nutrient. In fact, the average fibre intake among Canadians is approximately half of what it should be. Women aged 19 to 50 should consume 25 grams daily and men the same age should get 38 grams per day.

With a proven link between eating a high fibre diet and a myriad of health benefits, it’s clear that adding more fibre to your diet is a great way to take a healthy step for your body. A 1 cup serving of Kellogg’s All-Bran has 7g of fibre (28% of your daily value right there!)  The All-Bran.ca website has a ton of recipes where you can use All-Bran cereal too.  They don’t have it updated for All-Bran Cranberries & Clusters recipes yet, but you can substitute it for regular All-Bran in the recipes where appropriate.  This recipe for Bran Crunchies Cookies calls for 1 cup of All-Bran cereal – cranberry cookies would be even better!

Look for Kellogg’s All-Bran Cranberries & Clusters in stores now. It really is tasty and sweet, and definitely not what you’d think a bran cereal would taste like (which, let’s be honest here, is a good thing!)
