Heads up moms (and dads!) Grab the kids and head over to Chapters/Indigo locations because this month LEGO products are all 20% off! Perfect timing for the Easter Bunny’s visit, and being on the tail end of winter’s wrath when kids are getting stir crazy inside but it’s still to cold and wet (or in our case in Saskatchewan, snowy!) outside.
I LOVE Chapters/Indigo stores. I’ve been a bookworm my whole life (something I’ve passed on to my eight-year-old son and truly love that we can share the love of books!) and these stores are my utopia! As a child, I used to visit the Coles location in the local mall and sit on the floor reading Family Circus books! Thankfully the owners knew me (my parents had a store in the mall as well, at that time) and didn’t tell me to move, but I imagine I was a sight sitting there. The people behind Coles are also the same people behind Chapters/Indigo stores and over the years they’ve seen the need for a place just for kids in their stores. And so, they created Kid’s Play Areas inside Chapters/Indigo locations!
This month I experienced Chapters/Indigo both online and in store. I shopped online (thanks to a gift card from Chapters/Indigo and Mom Central Canada) and purchased three items – the book 419: A Novel for myself, the newest Big Nate book for my son, and the board game Trouble for all of us because it’s always been one of my favorites! I don’t have a Chapters/Indigo location in my city, so I shop online for the majority of my purchases.
Then, once in awhile I get to pop into a store and when I do I’m so jealous of parents who get to visit a nearby location often! The photos above are from the Signal Hill Indigo in Calgary. The store is huge and the Kid’s Play Area is so well laid out and clean. There’s seating and a train table for kids too (I didn’t take photos though as there were parents and kid’s hanging out at the time) What an amazing way to encourage a love of reading at a young age by making the area as inviting as possible – surely more inviting than the floor of the bookstore that I had when I was a kid! 😉
To celebrate the love of reading and encouraging it at a young age with things like the Chapters/Indigo Kid’s Play Areas, I have a $50 Chapters/Indigo Gift Card to offer one of my readers! To enter, just use the Rafflecopter form below!

But honestly I have seen some horrible things as well. One night while I was working I had to go from restaurant to restaurant in the area looking for some parents. They had left their 5 and 9 yr old in the kids department while they went to dinner at a no kids restaurant. Couldn’t believe it
