Dyson Air Multiplier

When a company has a product that they dominate the market with, one would think that would be the definition of success.  Dyson has been making and marketing vacuum cleaners that outperform and outlast their competitors for years now (kind of sounds like Survivor).

Earlier this spring, we checked out the new Dyson DC35 Digital Slim that now holds court in our kitchen (bye bye Swiffer) and use it not only in our kitchen but also to clean and dust furniture – even my laptop keyboard.  Then, this summer my husband and I saw commercials for the Dyson Air Multiplier products and knew that this was the perfect product for our (non-air-conditioned household).

Living in Saskatchewan, I don’t find the need for air conditioning for the 10 days of the summer that are what I would call hot.  Much too my husband’s annoyance, this frugal wife says that on the hottest days we can simply hang out in our cooler basement and use ceiling fans.

We really needed a new fan for the house and the Dyson AM03 Pedestal Fan is the king of all fans.   My parents have a standard pedestal fan and it scares me when the kids play near it – talking near it so their voices sound silly or, worse yet, touching the outside metal area protecting the fan blades.

I was intrigued by the idea of having an ultra modern looking fan without blades and, frankly, one that didn’t look like a fan in the first place.  Of course, our friends have seen the Dyson commercials so they knew what the new item in our living room was anyway.  The first question they all ask is, “Does it work?”

Just like all Dyson products we own, it works better than any other product we’ve tried in that particular category.  The AM03 Pedestal Fan uses Air Multiplier Technology (an annular jet draws in surrounding air, multiplying it 18 times) and operates via remote or on the unit itself.

It can nicely cool off a room and, when used all day long, keeps everything at a cooler temp and helps circulate the air which also helps reduce the dust in our house as well.  Ah, dust!  That’s one thing you won’t see much of on the fan, since there are no blades for the dust to accumulate on.  A simple wipe of the circle itself is all it takes to keep it dust free.

The fan itself can be tilted too which is great for the baby (and me!) on the floor, and the variable speed results in the perfect inside temperature. In fact, the lowest speed is so quiet and unnoticeable, that I can see this fan being used year round for better airflow in the house. Plus, it looks stellar in my living room.

The Dyson AM03 Pedestal Fan is listed on the Dyson.ca site for $549.99 and Canadians can use the Where to Buy link on the site to find a Dyson retailer near you.
