Glow Baby – For The Organized Family

Back in October/09 I did a review of Baby’s First Journal from a Canadian company called Glow Baby. At the time, I shared how this company made me smile because it brought back memories of our first few months home with Elijah, our first baby. I meticulously kept notes about everything going in, and everything coming out of him in a notebook. The Baby’s First Journal from Glow Baby helps moms stay super-organized with these ins and outs, and I loved that someone else understood a mom’s need to record this sort of thing, even if 7 years later you shake your head at your former mommy self.

Now, Glow Baby has 2 new items added to their great collection of items to help families get (and stay) organized! My Story…A Book of Memories is perfect for this mom of 3. When I was pregnant with Everleigh, I made it a mission this past winter to finish Elijah’s 1st Year scrapbook and even start on Nevaeh’s. When I had just one baby, maybe the idea of scrapbooking held some promise, but with three kids in the household now, I’m lucky if I write on the calendar when Everleigh has her firsts (so far, so good.)

This memory book is perfect for busy families because it doesn’t give you mommy guilt for not filling in the appropriate blanks after a phrase like, “How I felt after her first smile” when, a year later when you sit down to fill in the book you can’t even remember when that was. Instead, this book gives families 12 pocket-style pages to slip in memories like photos, artwork, or even the slip of paper the health nurse gives you with baby’s height and weight recorded at her immunizations. There’s plenty of room to write notes and special memories but no fill in the blank style of record keeping (that leaves more blanks than memories in our case). The book isn’t age specific either, so you could also use it for a child’s first year of Kindergarten, for example.

The newest item from Glow Baby that I am most excited about is The Organized Family Menu Planner! I have friends that do bi-weekly menu plans and I am so jealous of their organization. I keep saying that this is something I need to do but yet somehow never seem to be organized enough to do it.

This menu planner makes it ridiculously easy to plan your meals for a week at a time (or more, if you’d like) with lots of space for writing info and a tear-away shopping list right beside your handy calendar so you can make the list as you plan. I have high hopes that this is going to make a difference in our monthly grocery bill (it’s crazy how many times we go to the grocery store in one week!) The Organized Family Meal Planner has 52 weeks of pages, so there’s really no excuse for slacking on this in the new school year either. There’s even room for writing down your favorite go-to recipes and also meal planning charts for special events as well.

I think this is something that will make a great gift this holiday season as well and will go much further for a mommy-friend of yours than new bubble bath or lotion (she can reward herself with that later, after her fabulous meal planning session!)
