Writing reviews on products we use day-to-day has become my full time job over these past few years. I have a schedule and it helps me stay on track for the most part. Once in awhile, we receive a product for review that becomes so useful in our daily routine that I sometimes forget it’s a review! This was the case with our new Dyson DC35 Digital Slim multi-floor.
I’ve been a fan of Dyson vacuums for a few years now. In my opinion, nothing compares to the cleaning power of a Dyson vacuum. When I learned that Dyson had a cordless vacuum available in Canada this March, I knew it would be great, but was curious to see how well a Dyson motor could perform on a battery charge.
The sleek design of the Dyson DC35 makes it easy to hang the recharging station on my kitchen wall – what better way to show off charge my Dyson than in the corner of my kitchen so it’s always accessible. The fade-free lithium ion battery charges 3x faster than other batteries and releases the charge evenly so that the suction does not get weaker as you clean – it gives it all it’s got from beginning to end.
This isn’t a vaccum that is used to clean your house from top to bottom over the course of an hour but rather a tool that’s useful to clean the kitchen floor after dinner, tidy up the living room and hallway, or vacuum the bedrooms. One charge will give you 15 minutes suction (13 with the motorized floor tool attached which is how I use it 90% of the time), or 6 minutes on MAX.
I don’t need to use the MAX function all that often, because the Dyson digital motor with Root Cyclone Technology performs like all Dyson products – it does the job like I expected from a Dyson yet on the power of a battery.
The top level of our bi-level house is all hard flooring with a few area rugs, and the cordless Dyson DC35 Digital Slim can handle it all.
I use MAX power on the area rugs to get a deep clean but if I’m cleaning the entire living room, for example, and don’t have the battery power to use MAX on the rug, it can clean well on regular power too.
The motorized floor tool features ultra-fine anti-static carbon fiber brushes to clean hard floors and rotating nylon brushes to remove dirt from area rugs and carpet.
While the detachable long-reach wand is awesome for getting into high places (think of cobwebs on the ceiling and dust bunnies in the corners behind your coffee table), the attachments (Combination Tool for brush-dusting and Crevice Tool for getting into tight spots) make furniture cleaning a breeze too.
At 4.90 pounds, the Dyson DC35 Digital Slim is light enough for even my (almost) 7 year old to use which is great because he loves being able to help mom out with a quick vacuum of the kitchen floor or his bedroom. The bin capacity is 0.35 liters which is more than enough for basic cleaning around the house (in other words, it holds all the dust bunnies and dirt you can find).
The Dyson DC35 Digital Slim is listed on the Dyson.ca site for $349.99 which I realize is substantially more than a cheap Swiffer-style vacuum for quick kitchen clean-ups.
When I first learned about this new Dyson product, I thought that is what it would ultimately replace. What I’ve learned in the 8 or so weeks that we’ve had it is that the Dyson DC35 Digital Slim actually replaces our vacuum, at least for our upper level.
There’s no need to use another vaccum on our hard flooring and the DC35 has enough power to handle the 4 area rugs we have upstairs as well.
So, the Dyson DC35 Digital Slim, at $349.99 is a vacuum with Dyson’s Root Cyclone Technology that handles basic kitchen clean-up (replacing our cheap kitchen vac we had) as well as complete floor and furniture cleaning for all our upstairs rooms (replacing our vacuum cleaner for these areas). With that kind of performance, the price does seem to be more sensible.
You can see, now, why I forgot that the Dyson DC35 Digital Slim was in our household as a product review – I loved it the first time I used it and have not found any faults within the product to note. I have my sister convinced it’s a must-have item and have no doubt that it will make it’s way onto lists this holiday season (wow, did I just say holiday season…I’m sorry, go enjoy the sun!)
Check out the Dyson DC35 Digital Slim in a store near you to see for yourself the capabilities of this cordless vacuum. Stores that carry Dyson vaccums in Canada include Sears, Canadian Tire, Costco, Future Shop and Home Depot among others.
Beautiful and amazing. I’m jealous!
Oh man, now that sounds like it would be way easier on my back then my accient Kirby! Lol. I want a dyson and think I have my hubby convinced we need one when our kirby dies (if it ever does, lol)
We saw the commercial for this and it’s nice to see that it works great!
TFS
this would be pretty amazing to have in my home….
Want to send Dyson my way?!?
I could really use one!!!
Great review 🙂
Jody
would love to have in our home, especially with a baby!
That looks like a great tool. I always complain when I have to dig out the central vac after meals. With all the kids post supper crumbs are enough to require clean up after every meal. I could use a Dyson.
I am so gonna buy this vacuume! It’s the stick vac I have been dreaming of!
Ummmm YES please! I would love this vacuum! I have been wanting a Dyson for years but have never bit the bullet, looks like I have NO excuse now 🙂
do you think it would be good for getting the dust off the keyboards or the fans on laptops?
I just love that you can hang it on the wall to recharge and keep it out of the hands of little ones. Not that I truly need another Dyson in this house but I really WANT that one. It would be perfect for picking up the lint and crumbs in our neglected laundry room.
What a powerful little vacuum. Totally wanting a Dyson, and I know it will be my vacuum of choice once mine that I have now dies. It’s amazing how many functions this one has!
Love this, and think it could get me to retire my animal with attachments! Are you giving one away?!
Dyson may be doing a giveaway with Feisty Frugal & Fabulous closer to the holidays Jenn! 😉
Of course you had to show me another Dyson product for me to want. I love Dyson. Great Review!
I love the Dyson I have … it’s not the animal one but wow, it sure as heck works like one! I’d love to try this one as well. Maybe the one we have would like a little brother?
Ooooh I like the Slim! We have an upright Animal.. and the handheld. Seriously I always tell people… Dyson is the diamonds of vacuums.
Oh my goodness. This looks fantastic. I need one!
I think this is going to move to the top of my wish-list.
Been looking for a vacuum other than our built in so I don’t always have to drag the hose out and here it is!! Thanks for the review!
We have a newer Kirby (about 2.5 years old) and I’ve been nothing by disappointed with it. I hate it. It’s heavy has too many attachments, gets clogged too often, always smells like it’s burning even thought eh brush is clean AND it takes bags.
I will buy a Dyson next time, and although they seem expensive, at half the price of a Kirby, I’d be happy.
I still have yet to try any Dyson at all. I really enjoy vacuuming so owning a quality vacuum is a definite must.
Okay, I want that! We have hardwood floors in part of our home, and I would LOVE that to use on them. I swear I sweep them 28 times a day!
I don’t know how they always design such amazing products! I am testing out one of their fans right now and am so impressed. Would love to try this vacuum as well—looks great for so many small jobs.
i sure would love this
I have been trying to get this DC35 Digital Slim cordless Dyson.I have tried Sears, Walmart, and Canadian Tire. They do not carry it.Sears USA and Walmart USA do carry it but you can’t order it in Canada.I have tried numerous websites but they are all American and will not let you punch in a postal code.I will keep trying but I am getting frustrated.I found 1 company in the US (Meijer) who will ship it but by the time the shipping and duties and taxes are put on it they want $539.00 which is ridiculous.Any suggestions would be appreciated.
