Did you know that 1 in 4 Canadian women over 50 in Canada has Osteoporosis? Yikes! I was pretty surprised when I learned that. I’m sure many of you are like me and when you think of a woman with Osteoporosis you think of a very old lady hunched over a cane, right? The truth is, Osteoporosis is often called the “silent thief” because it has no obvious symptoms. Women may not even know they have Osteoporosis until they break a bone.
The new Osteoporosis website, OnTheGoWomen.ca, aims to educate women about the disease and stresses the importance of managing the condition with treatment and a healthy lifestyle (including some great calcium rich recipes like the one below!)
While Osteoporosis can strike at any age, it’s most common in women after menopause which means it’s our moms (and some of my readers) that need to be aware of the risks and treatments. See the link below on how to start a conversation with your mom about Osteoporosis.
I hope you or someone you know can utilize these resources – I printed the recipes for my mom! More info can be found at www.OnTheGoWomen.ca.
This is a sponsored post, however, all opinions are obviously (!) my own.
