Little One Books

I don’t often shop in an actual book store anymore – the majority of my book shopping is done online or through the ordering programs at my son’s school.  Still, it’s overwhelming when I’m looking for something new for the kids and have literally hundreds of titles to choose from.  I often look for what’s new, popular, or if I’m lucky has some great reviews posted about it.

Little One Books is a great online solution for parents, grandparents and gift-givers looking for books appropriate by age because every single one of the books and other products on the site have been personally reviewed.  Unlike mass-market companies, they do not purchase books by the box simply because it looks good or was a good deal, they ensure that their product is worthwhile before offering it for sale on the site.

I recently received 3 books that I picked for Neaveh from Little One Books: Dora’s Big Book Adventure, Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type, Harold and the Purple Crayon and Dora Saves the Snow Princess.  Of course Dora is a big hit with most preschoolers so perhaps that was an easy suggestion for Little One Books to make.

Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type is a such a popular children’s book so I can see why it was recommended too!  As Eve, the person who recommended it says, “This is an excellent book to read out loud, since there is so much great dialogue.”  Both my kids love reading this story before bed with us and the illustrations just add to the silliness of the story.

I had never read Harold and the Purple Crayon before, so I picked this book purely on Little One Book’s recommendation.  Eve says, “The story is loaded with suspense, and your child will be really excited to find out what situation Harold draws himself into next. He or she will love the fact that this little boy is the creator of all of the drawings. The story will make them want to use their creativity to make the world around them a little more exciting. The book is filled with short sentences, so your child won’t be overwhelmed by too much text.”  Little One Books was right, the book’s story is simple and easy to read and the drawings are of course what truly brings this story to life.
