I know I’m not alone saying that when you move into a new home, you want a fresh start in so many ways and with so many products. We had suffered with our incredibly crappy (sorry but there’s really no other way to describe them) cordless phones for 3 years and although we needed new phones for awhile, I wanted to wait for the new house. Why, I have no idea. I never said I was normal.
Oh what a difference these phones have made! We are now using these DS6321-3 VTech cordless phones and love them. Our old phones couldn’t hold a charge (the battery would die after a long conversation) and they crackled so bad that I’d have to call people back from my cord phone. The features on these phones make it all the more fun too.
The phones are BLUETOOTH enabled for connection to your cell phone and headsets – you can actually download your cell phone contact list onto these handsets, and you don’t even need a landline. I know a few people who don’t have landline phone service anymore so this is a fabulous way to enable the entire household to share the phone and have a phone in other areas of the house (no frantic searching for one cell phone when it’s ringing.) I haven’t downloaded my contact list, it’s on my to-do list someday.
What I have done, however, is had fun with the digital answering system. We had voicemail through our phone provider and I was able to remove that from our package saving us a little bit of money each month. You can record your own greeting or select from a standard greeting. I went for the standard greeting which surprised my sister the first time she called. It’s easy to retrieve the messages – you can play them via speakerphone or listen privately.
Speaking of privacy, your phone calls are digitally encrypted with DECT 6.0 Digital Technology making it nearly impossible for anyone to eavesdrop. You’re not going to have accidental eavesdropping of conversations (in our old town, I overheard a conversation someone had about shingles on a garage…what a boring conversation, yawn.) I was super paranoid about my phone calls being overheard after that – after all if I could hear other people’s calls couldn’t they then hear mine?
Other features include the ability to transfer calls between handsets (which is actually hard to get into the habit of doing, I find myself running the phone to my husband still), a 50 number storage capacity, 14 minutes of recording time on the answering system (great for when you’re on vacation), and of course the Caller ID and Call Waiting screens which are an extra large LCD screen. The size of the phone is great but when sitting face down on a table or on the edge of our sofa, I often mistake it for the tv remote!
