Think of Sheryl Crow and what comes to mind? Music, undoubtedly. Sheryl Crow’s music could easily fit as a soundtrack to my life, with “Strong Enough” playing on the tv in my school’s cafeteria at noon hour and “My Favorite Mistake” playing in the store I managed in my 20’s. My son recognizes “Here Comes the Sun” not as a Beatles tune but sweetly sung by Crow in Bee Movie.
Beyond the music, it’s Sheryl Crow’s style that resonates. Classic. Vintage. Definitely rock ‘n roll. When Bootheel Trading Co. by Sheryl Crow was launched in 2008, it wasn’t met with the usual “oh, another celebrity brand” dismissal. Fans, and those in the industry (both music and fashion) took note. The clothing (jeans, tees, shirts and vests) all reflect Crow’s personal style, reflective of her roots in Missouri. One of the jean styles is named Kennett, after the ‘boot heel’ region of Missouri where Crow was born and raised (m’am.)
I was fortunate to receive several styles of Bootheel Trading Co. jeans to try out and will be bringing you features over the next little while on all of them. The first style I wanted to share is the Fairfax Bootcut Jeans. From the photo of the model online (first one on the left above), I wondered how these jeans would sit on my hips – they are not low rise but (thank God) not ‘mom’ jeans at all. They actually rest higher in the back enabling me, as a mom, to actually bend over without exposing myself to whoever the poor chap is behind me. I know many of us can appreciate having a bit of extra material to save us from that scenario. The fit of the Fairfax style is pretty consistent with other brands, though the regular length was longer than most others. I’m 5’7 and can easily wear heels with these jeans. They have a decent amount of stretch making them comfortable to wear, but not so much stretch that I’m constantly pulling them up (note to designers: too much stretch makes jeans fall down after a few hours of wear and makes women very irritable!)
It’s nice to see a celeb’s label being affordable – the Fairfax jeans from Bootheel Trading Co. by Sheryl Crow are available online at Dillard’s for $68.00.1 reader is going to have the opportunity to own their own pair of Fairfax style jeans from Bootheel Trading Co. by Sheryl Crow!
