FitFlop shoes are the answer to a common problem I have being a mommy in the summer. I wear flip flops because they’re easy to slip on and off and I love being ‘almost’ barefoot all summer long. I know, however, that they are awful for my feet and my feet are often sore after a long walk with the stroller. I’ve wondered why a company didn’t make flip flops that look as fabulous as they felt to wear. Little did I know that shoes like that did exist, FitFlop!
FitFlop has a tagline: Get a workout while you walk. How is that accomplished? FitFlop sandals are biochemically engineered to actually tone and tighten your leg muscles when you walk in them, yes really!! The Centre for Human Performance at LSBU did studies on the shoes and concluded that normal walking in Fit Flop sandals can improve your posture and muscle tone and increase the muscle activity in your leg, calf, and gluteal muscles.
I tried the new Walkstar III Jelly, in pistachio. Featuring a soft leather upper and lining, this sporty sandal is super comfortable. When I received my sandals (which I was waiting for with eager anticipation!) I immediately put them on and wore them around the house for the remainder of the day. When I took them off in the evening…my feet felt weird! Bare feet felt uncomfortable after wearing the shoes for just a few hours – to me it was like my feet were getting a little massage in the sandals because of the proper care taken to form the shoe to the foot in this design.
The next day I wore my Fit Flop Sandals out to the mall (the pistachio shoe matched my capris nicely, I might add). I wondered how a full day wearing the shoes would feel on my muscles. If my muscles were really being used more wearing these shoes, would I notice? The day continued and I got the kids off to bed, did my usual evening blog work and went to bed. The next morning when I woke up, I felt muscle tenderness in my calves getting out of bed!! It took me a moment to realize that it was from the Fit Flop sandals (kind of a “Whoa what the heck did I do yesterday?” moment). I got out of bed with a smile, realizing that these babies were the real deal. Cool!
In browsing the site (check out the super hot model pushing a stroller, I’d pay for one of my readers to post a similar pic, lol) I found the link to the Fit Flop Facebook Fan Page and wow, FitFlop really has a following! Loyal customers purchase more than one pair (to match outfits so you really can wear them with everything) and eagerly await the new styles out each season. This isn’t a gimmick company, folks, and I can’t believe I had not heard about them until now!
I *heart* my new FitFlop sandals and will be keeping an eye on the new designs coming out soon for Fall/Winter 2009. I’ll keep you posted on my toned bum this summer!
