Hearty Holiday Breakfast Casserole
- 12-16 slices of bread, crusts removed
- 8-10 cheese slices
- 1 package of Grimm's Carved Classic Ham 125g
- 2 packages (300g each) of Grimm's British Banger Sausage
- 10 eggs
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 3 cups milk
- ½ cup onion
- ½ cup red or green pepper (or both!)
- ½ cup diced mushrooms
- salt/pepper to taste
- ½ cup butter or margarine, melted
- 1 cup cornflakes
- Remove the casing from the Grimm's British Banger Sausage, crumble and fry in a frying pan until cooked through.
- Butter the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish
- Lay 6-8 slices of bread in the bottom of the dish (I remove the crusts)
- Cover with a layer of Carved Ham
- Next, lay cheese slices on top of the ham
- Then, cover with the British Banger Sausage crumble
- Lay another 6-8 slices of bread on top of the cheese
- In a bowl, beat the eggs and add the Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, milk, onion, peppers, mushrooms, and salt/pepper
- Pour liquid mixture over the casserole, cover and place in the fridge overnight
- In the morning, remove casserole from the fridge, melt ½ cup butter or margarine and pour over the casserole.
- Top with 1 cup cornflakes, crushed or whole
- Bake, uncovered, in 350 degree oven for one hour.
