This holiday season is different. We see things differently and celebrate differently, but at the center of it all is family and appreciating those you hold near and dear. This summer I picked up my dad’s tool box, empty

This summer I picked up my dad’s tool box, empty and waiting for me in my mom’s shed. Today I completed the project I had in mind for it. This tool box, my mom estimates, belonged to my Gido “on the farm” before my dad inherited it from him. Originally plain wood, she thinks it would have been painted red whenever the barn got its new coat of paint. I love all the worn spots on it, especially on the handle where my gido and dad’s hands would have carried it. Now, it will be a centrepiece on my table every Christmas. I’m sure they’d both find that humorous and ridiculous, really, but knowing that my dad would have a chuckle over that makes me smile. #christmastoolbox #toolboxcraft #toolboxcenterpiece

It’s been a week already and it’s only...Wednesday? Vinnie had his ✂️ appointment by surprise Monday due to someone cancelling. Then we got the surprise of abdominal surgery needed to retrieve a 🥜 that hadn’t dropped (who knew?) Two restless nights and now a pup with no onesie or cone (dramatic is an understatement; have you heard a 4 pound chihuahua scream?) but happily medicated means our week is sort of almost back to normal. This morning @ctvreginalive I shared one of my favorite lunches at home - a nourish bowl made with romaine lettuce, turkey, red onions, pecans, cranberries, feta and Greek dressing. Why do we call it a nourish bowl? I suppose it’s because good food makes us feel good. We need to nourish ourselves, in all ways, right now.
