Skechers Shape Ups His & Her Giveaway

When I was in my 8th month of pregnancy, I was contacted by Skechers Canada and asked if I’d be interested in checking out Skechers Shape-Ups shoes. Of course I was interested! I knew that, with baby #3, losing the pregnancy weight likely wasn’t going to be as easy as it was with the other two and I figured that if I got the shoes early enough (which I did), it wouldn’t hurt to wear them in my last month to start toning my legs. Secretly, I also hoped they would give me a bit of a surprise work-out so much so that it would put my body into labor (it didn’t.)

Now that it’s been 8 weeks since I had Everleigh (I know, already!) and I am past that 6 week healing-time after my c-section, I am eager to get out walking more and get more exercise. This girl has never set foot in a gym so “working out” to me involves long walks or work-out DVDs – fortunately both can be done while wearing Skechers!

We received 4 pairs of Skechers total – 2 for me and 2 for my husband. The first time we both wore our Skechers, we both commented on how we could feel different muscles being used while we walked (and consequently afterwards, the following day when the same muscles ached!) The design of Skechers Shape-Ups is so that when you wear them, it mimics walking on sand. If you think about it, walking on sand does get strenuous because you are working extra hard to accomplish each step, therefore using different muscles and using more muscles as you walk. Since we all don’t have the luxury of living on the beach (I live near wheat fields), this is an interesting concept to achieve the same result.

Looking at the diagram above, why wouldn’t you want to wear Shape-Ups if this is what it can help you accomplish? The thing is, of course this isn’t going to magically give you a body like Skechers Shape Ups spokesperson Kim Kardashian – it’s just not realistic. What Skechers Shape Ups can do, however, is amp your walk or your work-out up just a bit and help tone those areas of the body highlighted above. Help, not magically transform. I think when you remember that philosophy when using any product targeted at achieving a better body, you’re in a good place.

I did it, I posted a picture of my post-pregnancy butt on my blog, with an extra 7 lbs on my body to spare. All kidding aside, I am hoping that walking while wearing my Skechers Tone Ups Fitness Ready Set and Skechers Shape ups Strength shoes, I can give my body that extra little push it wouldn’t otherwise get if I were wearing regular shoes. I say that my Skechers make me feel more ‘bouncy’ – the sole and footbed are definitely comfortable and very lightweight, so they literally do give me a little bounce in my step, and if that helps in my weight loss all the better!

My husband wears his Tone ups Trainer Glide shoes to the gym and says they are really comfortable for running on the treadmill and other workouts. His philosophy is the same as mine – these shoes are not going to melt away pounds simply because you put them on but they will help tone muscles that you don’t usually use when doing everyday activities and when choosing between Skechers Shape ups, Tone ups or a regular shoe, why not go with one that gives you a little added workout too.
