Gift Guide Giveaways and Reviews

Breakaway Experiences (Because We All Could Use a Break in 2021!)

I’m so happy to have Breakaway Experiences back as part of my Holiday Gift Guide this year! As in years past, Breakaway Experiences offers you the opportunity to gift your family and friends right across the country with experiences in their own area of the country.

COVID-19 has made this a very challenging year for most of the experiences providers they are partnered with but each provider has worked hard and been innovative in adapting their experiences to be as safe as possible for both the public and their employees. The safety steps the experiences providers have adapted have been added to the tour pages to add some reassurance and comfort when you are buying a fun experience for someone special or for yourself to get out and about.

The experiences that are open and available are experiences that do not involve crowding together. Each company has adapted their activities to keep people as distanced as much as possible. Often tours and activities are limited to your covid bubble within the immediate area, along with staff sanitizing and being vetted daily for symptoms.

Here are some Breakaway Adventures tour ideas that you may want to consider gifting this holiday season for use in 2021.

Play-at-Home Clue Solving Adventures – The Brotherhood Mystery ($39) – Do you have what it takes to follow a trail of clues around the world? Mystery, Suspense, Intrigue! They are all there in this three-part virtual adventure. This unique scavenger hunt style, clue solving adventure is your chance to explore the world AT HOME with friends.

1000 Islands Helicopter Tour ($99 per person) – Experience spectacular views of the 1000 Islands from high above on this exciting helicopter tour. Feel the excitement as you lift off from Gananoque and become mesmerized by the beauty and richness of the 1000 Islands as only seen from the air.

Vancouver Murder Mystery Adventure in Gastown ($35 per person) – are you ready to solve a murder mystery in Vancouver’s Gastown! Play detective deciphering clues and solving puzzles around Gastown in an outdoors ‘socially distanced’ scavenger hunt style clue solving mystery with family and friends.

Banff Snowshoeing Tour to the Paint Pots ($82 per person) – This easy 3-kilometre trail through Kootenay National Park is the perfect introduction to snowshoeing near Banff. Following your professional guide, you’ll snowshoe on a trail that crosses a bridge across the frozen Vermilion River and along a snowy path winding through a forest of pine trees to the Paint Pots, a cultural treasure within the National Park. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy a uniquely Canadian treat: hot maple taffy poured into snow to make a sweet frozen dessert. Plus, as the maple taffy is being made, try a crazy carpet slide down the hill. Both kids and adults alike love this part of the tour!

There are so many other tours available, and I really appreciate being able to check through the Covid-19 protocols on each one as well.

Certificates from Breakaway Experiences never expire! They guarantee the value of all certificates (if a certificate is not redeemed within a year of
purchase and the cost of the experience increases, the certificate holder will only have to pay the difference between the original value and the new price.) And, if you get it wrong and the person you’ve gifted the Hot Air Balloon Experience to is afraid of heights? No problem, Breakaway Experiences has a hassle-free exchange policy where you can exchange an experience for the full value of the gift certificate.
