Hasbro Family Game Night Giveaway

When was the last time you sat down and played a game with your kids? Not on the gaming console or iPad, but an actual card game or board game? We don’t do it often enough. I find that the summer months, out on the backyard deck or at the table with cousins over are the times we play cards or board games the most. My in-laws live two provinces away, and when they come, a board game (OK, many many board games) are an expected part of every visit. It’s something the grandparents and kids love to do together. It occurred to me that board games mean family time, just not immediate family time but more so with visiting relatives. So, when Hasbro generously sent us a box packed full of Hasbro board games (along with some goodies to eat while playing) it prompted me to make game play a part of our nuclear family life too.

Check out what Hasbro board games were included in our Family Game Night box:

Tiny Pong is so new, it’s not even on store shelves yet and only available for pre-order from places like Toys R Us! The Tiny Pong Solo Table Tennis game brings exciting bouncing action into the palm of your hand! Launch the ball off the court and bounce it repeatedly on the court to rack up points. Move the court back and forth under the ball. Keep it going, getting a point for every bounce. To increase the challenge, switch from Beginner mode to Expert mode. The game responds with lights and sounds as players try to beat their highest score by getting as many bounces as they can!

All three kids tried the game, with even my fourteen year old wandering over to it to pick it up, curious on how it worked. It’s one of those games that you may want to play as a group, to compete with each other, or solo when no one is around (like in my case, not wanting to embarrass myself!) It’s fun, and at a pre-order price of $24.99 at Toys R Us, makes a fun summer toy for on the deck or at the cabin with friends young and old.

Monopoly is a Hasbro game that has stood the test of time, and receiving this classic edition made me happy because I love a good classic. Hasbro has released a large assortment of Monopoly themes to entice players who might not typically play (Monopoly Fortnite anyone?) or to bring a new level of interest into the game. As I said, I like the classic, and we’ll be bringing out this game again this summer so I can win everything like the entrepreneurial beast that I am. 😉

We also received the Monopoly Deal card game which takes the game to a different platform with some of the basics still a focus. It comes with 110 cards including Property Cards, Rent Cards, House and Hotel Cards, and Wild Property Cards. Action Cards let players do things such as charge rent and make tricky deals. House and Hotel Cards raise rent values. Wild Property Cards help players build Property sets. And, players pay their debts with Money Cards. Be the first player to collect 3 complete Property Card sets in different colors to win. This card game is a great way to play the Fast-Dealing Property Trading Game in as little as 15 minutes!

Look for Monopoly at Toys R Us, Indigo, Walmart, and Amazon.ca.

The Peeing Pup Game raised a few eyebrows when it came out of the box, and my girls squealed with delight because they’d already seen the advertisements for it online! It’s a game of “”hot potato”” as kids take turns passing the pup and petting its head, and then when the puppy barks it’s time to pass him to the next person. The little pup makes cute sounds with all this attention…but watch out! He loves to be petted but he just might pee. The only player not to get peed on by the pup wins!

I feel like this is reminiscent of our puppy training time with our labradoodle. “The only player to not get peed on by the pup wins!” True story. We’re going to save this game for outdoor fun this summer, and I just know it’s going to be a hit in the backyard with our kids and their friends. Look for it at Walmart.ca for $24.93.

Another classic Hasbro board game, Scrabble, ended up being the family favorite from the box of games we received. Our youngest is 8 years old and old enough, according to the guidelines on the box, to play with the grown-ups now (there’s also a Scrabble Junior version for younger kids). A quick explanation of how to play, with mom being the scorekeeper and dad shuffling between both daughters to offer some help made for a great afternoon of Scrabble fun.

I love how this game, naturally, encourages spelling and grammar all while bringing the family together to brainstorm and determine what tiles would bring us the most success in the end. I predict a lot of Scrabble play this summer, and we’re already planning on taking it to their aunt and uncle’s house this summer to continue the fun. Look for Scrabble at Toys R Us, Walmart, Indigo and Amazon.ca.
