Sitting at the sidelines of my kids’ activities this spring, most times covered in a blanket to keep warm (thanks a lot Mother Nature!) the discussion among the parents inevitably turns to summer holidays. Whether venturing near or far, chances are you’ve already got some plans in motion or have at the very least discussed some ideas.
Naturally, finances and budget are a part of those conversations. After all, the return to school appears on the calendar before you know it and that’s another expense to contend with. Still, the Canadian summer is short and it’s important to take advantage of everything summer brings and create those family memories that we can look back on in the dreary days of winter (but let’s not think of that part just yet).
Some of my friends are planning various camping trips at our beautiful provincial and regional parks in our province, while others are hitting the road for a trip to the Wisconsin Dells, while another family we know is driving to California! We’re heading to Alberta for a week of fun!
If you’re thinking of upcoming travel plans or excursions, Bank of Montreal (BMO) and AIR MILES have just announced a new benefit on the BMO AIR MILES MasterCard that will make summer planning more affordable!
To help Collectors get the most out of their summer season, AIR MILES and BMO have announced a new accelerated earn rate of 2x the Miles on eligible purchases made on the BMO AIR MILES MasterCard with no annual fee at participating AIR MILES Partners, helping Collectors get Miles even faster that they can use on unique rewards and experiences.
For the first time ever, Collectors can get 2x the Miles for every $20 spent at participating AIR MILES Partner retailers including Sobeys, IGA, Shell, Rexall, Jean Coutu, Safeway, Lawtons and many more. Plus, for a limited time, new customers will also get a welcome offer of 500 Bonus Miles. All of this is in addition, of course, to the Miles customers will get from AIR MILES Partners when using their AIR MILES Card.
This new offer provides Collectors with an easier and faster way to get Miles, bringing them closer to those rewards and experiences they love whether through merchandise, travel, events and attractions or instant Cash Rewards through AIR MILES Cash.
Rewards cards and programs like AIR MILES are a great way to get where you’re going faster or get items for FREE during your summer vacation. Other cost-cutting tips I recommend include packing a cooler for long road trips, researching kids-eat-free promotions in the city you’re traveling to, and reaching out to the local tourism office for information on other deals and events for tourists. With a little planning and of course, strategic shopping with your rewards cards year-round, your family vacation can be packed full of memories without the financial stress. Happy travels!
