Cozy Winter Days {$25 Amazon GC Giveaway}

While some parents are fortunate to have the kids back in school after Christmas break already, many of us are still on the last days of the long break or have kids at home due to weather or illness. Winter days are always the longest (yet ironically the shortest considering there’s just so much dark) and are a stark contrast to the warm spring and summer months when you can at least get into the backyard if not off to the local park or for a leisurely walk to burn off energy.

And so, winter days for me are mostly about hibernating and trying to make the best of it. Need some help? Here are 5 shopping picks destined to help!

One of my goals for 2018 is to read more, outside of the summer months where I always have a book with me on the back deck. Reading grounds me, gives me time for reflection, and takes me back to my childhood where growing up as an only child (my siblings were all over a decade older than me) made a book my constant companion. Turtles All The Way Down is 980 CJME Sam’s Book Club pick for January, and my very first time attending (#goals). I’m nearly finished the book and really like it. It’s a YA (Young Adult) novel which makes it an easy read and a great way to start 2018’s reading goal. If you’re looking for something light, but well written and a good story, pick up Turtles All The Way Down ($17.94 at Amazon.ca)

Reading requires a cozy blanket for sure. If you love chunky knits, you need to check out Top Knot Style out of Alberta! Amanda crochets the most beautiful, heavy, luxe blankets and my Grey Large Throw ($285) has been a winter go-to for a few years now.

For those terrible moments when you have to leave your cozy blanket and book and let the dog out or grab a fresh cup of coffee, these Ladies Long Knitted Slipper Socks with Full Soft Fleece Lining ($10.11 at Amazon.ca) are perfect! My daughter received a pair as a gift at Christmas and calls them her “reading socks” though she admittedly wears them all day long at home. Cozy fuzzy socks make me feel like I’m 10 too, and sometimes that’s exactly what I need.

Remember when sweatshirts weren’t a trending fashion item? You know, like last year? I love this cozy nod to my teenage years, and anything Boss Babe related is a favourite of mine. You can find this cozy boss babe sweatshirt at Amazon.ca for $43.81.

My sister got me this Travel Steeper from Bloom Tea in Alberta($40), so I can steep tea at home or on the go. I’m still learning to love tea as much as I love coffee, but this pretty little bottle will certainly help (I love pretty things, and new toys, and this is both).

With all the above (and yes, the Turtles chocolate in the top photo), I don’t have a need to leave the house at all – cabin fever be damned!

With online shopping, there’s no need to leave the house either! Enter below to win a $25 Amazon Gift Code!
