A Caesar for Santa (and a Caesar for me!)

Matt & Steve Extreme Bean CaesarThis week is a busy one, and it continues pretty much until New Years Day! I’ve been preparing for guests and get-togethers by making appetizers, buying groceries for out-of-town guests and ensuring our “spirits” cupboard is full. Caesars are a favorite of mine so I’ve always got those ingredients on hand. Since learning about Matt & Steve’s Extreme Bean this summer, my Caesar just isn’t complete without them.

I love the story of Matt & Steve’s – the company was created in an apartment where the founders (yes Matt and Steve) perfected making the perfect Caesar garnish.

Bartenders for years, they poured hundreds (thousands?) of Caesars over celery and wanted to make something ‘tasty, topical, social and fun’ (the brand pillars still today!)

The Extreme Bean was discovered.

It’s actually a Kentucky flat bean (a what a what?) and grows longer, sweeter and crunchier than a normal bean.  Eureka!  If you’ve ever purchased pickled beans and discovered after a day of being opened that they are mushy and slimy – I totally feel your pain Caesar-friend!

Not only exceptional in Caesars, The Extreme Bean is also said to be good in salads and antipasto.  Our family (including my three kids all under 10) love eating Extreme Beans right out of the jar.  I sometimes put them on our table in place of pickles at a meal, they’re just that good!

You can order The Extreme Bean products directly on the Matt and Steve site, or you can look at the Locations link to find a store near you that carries Matt & Steve’s products.  I haven’t seen it locally though Matt & Steve recommend you speak with the store manager directly if you’d like to see it on shelves (and oh, how I do!)
