Staples has just launched – like, today – their second annual Share Your First Day of School Story contest for Canadians!
“This contest is one of our most popular campaigns of the year,” said Rick Atkinson, vice president of Marketing at Staples Canada. “This campaign builds a strong community of customers and celebrates the emotional connection between Staples and going back to school.”
Ahhh, the first day of school! Moms rejoice, some of us have tears, and children and teens go off to school ready to conquer a new school year and reconnect with friends.
The first day back is a big deal, we take pictures of it every year and Facebook feeds are loaded with moms sharing that childhood-right-of-passage-photo capturing the first day of school.
The photo shared here is of my daughter, Nevaeh, on her first day of preschool.
I am so glad I captured her walking across the school yard to the door, my little feisty girl making her way into the world. I have some of my own first day of school memories as a child, though nothing that stands out as a story I can retell over and over.

Sharing stories is easy. Customers, fans and friends simply visit the Staples Canada Facebook page to submit their picture or essay, or the YouTube videoto enter via video response. Winners will be announced the week of September 16th.

For me, the first day of school was always so exciting. Now, as a parent, it brings with it mixed emotions. *sigh*
I hear you – I love that my mom tells me how she cried outside my Kindergarten classroom and even stayed on the playground for a bit just in case I needed her (I think she needed me more, LOL!)
