Playhouse Disney News!

I am happy to share that I am among 10 mom bloggers in Canada participating in a program through Mom Central Canada!

We are the Playhouse Disney Moms and we’ll be bringing you news about events happening on our favorite channel, Playhouse Disney of course!

There may even be some Playhouse Disney themed giveaways from time to time as well.

My first bit of info I wanted to share – have you heard about or seen Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Mousekersize on Playhouse Disney yet?  The first three spots aired on Playhouse Disney on March 5th and will be available to On Demand subscribers as well so they can watch any time (I just checked and we don’t have it on our On Demand just yet) and at Playhouse Disney Online.

Created with a goal to help pre-schoolers and families get active indoors, Mickey’s Mousekersize may feel nostalgic to those of us who remember the original series from the 80’s.  I was brought back to my childhood this past fall when my 3 year old’s gymnastic instructor used a Mickey’s Mousekersize CD to help the kids warm up before class, so it seems like this idea has long been held on to by us 80’s kids!

Staying active during the cold winter months (and in Canada, let’s face it, through the rainy and cool spring season as well) can be difficult.  I was just chatting with our friends last night about how sibling rivalry has seemed to reach its peak – the kids are tired of being cramped up together indoors and need to burn off some energy.  I’m waiting for the spring thaw (coming to Saskatchewan this week apparently) so the kids can get outside but I know that keeping active indoors is important too.

What kinds of things do you do to keep active indoors, in your own house?  We have the kids in activities during the winter months but at home, it’s sometimes difficult with limited space.  At 3 and 6 my kids are fans of hide and seek now so that often keeps them busy for awhile.  Dance parties are always a hit in our house.

The thing is, it was a dance party in the kitchen with Elijah, my son who was 3 at the time, that started my labor with my daughter in 2007!  I was cooking supper and had the music cranked and I remember we were dancing to Beyonce’s “Lose My Breath” with Elijah and then afterwards…yep…the contractions started!  So, at 37 weeks maybe I’ll be the dancing judge for another week or two before I break out my moves with the kids this time.

In the meantime, we’ll keep our eyes open for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Mousekersize on Playhouse Disney!

Disclosure: I’m part of the Playhouse Disney Mom program and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.
