Make the Time

By Lisa Dutton

It’s not about having time, it’s about making time. Make time to relax and enjoy your family this holiday season. One of the best ways to do that- games of course! And no, NOT the kind on your phone.

I will have my fam-jam stepping out of the board game box this Christmas to try something new. My first pick is Hashtag It ($24.99). This game is perfect for parties, and will have your pals tagging photos with outrageous hashtags. Play the best Hashtag caption from the cards in your hand, if yours is voted best, you win he round! Just make sure your guest like to laugh, and aren’t easily offended 😉

Who’s the Dude is for ages 16+, but is actually on my 9 year olds Christmas list. It is basically an updated version of classic charades. That’s because an inflatable “dude” makes it a double act! Together, you and dude act out various situations, the player with the most points wins. And for the record, my 9 year old WILL be receiving Who’s the Dude ($29.95) because mom wants to play it! What a unique yet simple twist on a classic.

For some quieter time this Christmas, check out Linkt Craft Kits ($24.99-$26.99), a modern introduction to the historical art of chainmaille. Make earrings, bracelets and necklaces by linking hundreds of colourful rings. And talk about bang for your buck; Hoops & Loops ($24.97) earring kit makes 20 pairs of earrings! This would be a great activity to pick up and then turn around as personalized, handmade gifts. Kids are always so proud to gift something they made themselves. Linkt makes assembly easy through their “magic” layout tool, and video instructions on YouTube.

Make the time this Christmas. You won’t regret it.
