Best Buy Shares the Coolest Tech for Families This Fall

Now that we’re knee-deep into school, routine, sports and more, we’re seeing what works (once weekly wings ‘n drink date with my husband to decompress) and what doesn’t (the idea that my kids will have clean bedrooms before they leave for school every morning – I can’t even guarantee they’ll make their beds.) We’re settling in for the long hall, parents, and recently I was sent a ton of great tech ideas from Best Buy not only to utilize as great ideas and innovations for your home but in my opinion, can help your family have a smooth school year going forward. Check out my favourites:

Nest Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat 3rd Generation ($329.99)

Turn yours into a smart home with the Nest Learning Thermostat. It remembers what temperatures you like, learns your schedule, and programs itself to save energy. Its sharp 2.08″ LCD display with Farsight lights up when you approach. WiFi connected, you can control it with your mobile device, and use it with numerous compatible smart home products.

Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell 2 ($249.99)

You don’t have to be home to keep a watchful eye on your residence with the Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell 2. This doorbell boasts HD video and 2-way communication so you can see and hear who’s at your door. Motion detectors keep you up to date by sending phone alerts, and night-vision infrared sensors make sure you’re never left in the dark. I love having a doorbell camera not only for security but for assurance knowing that my kids are home from school if I don’t happen to be home – I see their happy faces walking in the door.

SmartCompanion Personal GPS Tracker ($199.99)

From your prized bike to your aging parents, you can track the whereabouts of what’s important to you with the SmartCompanion personal GPS tracker. It lets you define perimeters, and sends you notifications when someone or something has entered or left these perimeters. Thanks to cellular wave technology, you can follow the tracker whenever it’s within a mobile network. I absolutely love this idea for families – have your older child take it along in his backpack when out biking around the neighbourhood, or when teaching your younger child the independence of walking the dog. You’ll always know where to find them!

Fitbit Alta HR Fitness Tracker with Heart Rate Monitor ($199.99)

With continuous heart rate monitoring, automatic sleep tracking, and SmartTrack exercise recognition, the Fitbit Alta HR wristband is a feature-packed fitness companion that can help you keep track of your health when you’re busy with work. It offers valuable activity insights, helpful reminders to get you motivated, and convenient notifications to keep you connected. This is perfect for both stay at home and working parents alike – we all need a little motivation to move more, and I love that you actually get a little nudge with the Fitbit Alta HR to actually do that! I’ve been wearing a Fitbit Flex 2 for almost a year now and am making the switch to this pretty coral Fitbit Alta in October!

Nokia Thermo Smart Thermometer ($129.99)

Enjoy highly accurate and practically instantaneous temperature results with the Nokia Thermo. This hygenic, no-contact temporal thermometer uses infrared sensors to provide a precise reading of anyone’s temperature. Thermo syncs with your smartphone and lets you log readings and review advice based on the symptoms you input. This is perfect for everyone but especially, I think, parents of young kids. If you’re concerned about an on-going fever through the night, you can easily check their temperature without disturbing them.

I’m so happy to share that Best Buy has set aside a Fitbit Alta HR Fitness Tracker with Heart Rate Monitor ($199.99) for one lucky Feisty Frugal & Fabulous reader this fall! Simply fill in your name and email address in the form below to get started and then tell us – aside from the FitBit – which of the other items I shared above interests you for your household the most?
