Life With Doggo

Dog. Doggo. Doodle. Doods. Our labradoodle Cali turns 4 years old later this month and it’s hard to believe we ever had a household without this dog around. She came to us as a 8 week old puppy and life changed after that! I often tell the story about my manic freak-out that first few weeks when she pooped on my throw rug in the living room. It was a frigid, sleeting, fall day and there was me, rolling up the carpet and literally tossing it over our deck railing onto the ground below for my husband to take to the dump later. I. Was. Done.

Thankfully, Cali pulled through those bumpy few months and didn’t get posted for doggie adoption. We’ve learned to roll with the punches, or poop as the case may be, and just deal with what she brings our way. It’s because, of course, the good far outweighs the bad when having a dog as part of our family.

We’ve learned that knowing what she can and can not eat is important (bacon is a big, bad, no) and that, just like us, dogs get sick for no reason at all and it’s important to ensure they’re well taken care of, as well as your flooring. How convenient (I say sarcastically) that I had a brand new Hoover Power Scrub Elite to review, when last weekend Cali put it to the test. My husband and I were at the Regina Farmer’s Market when we got a call from our middle child telling us the dog had thrown up on the carpet upstairs. My oldest cleaned up the throw up, but the remnants remained in the carpet until we got home.

The master bedroom and hallway is what needed the cleaning, and so – we began while Cali acted as supervisor. The Hoover Power Scrubber Elite’s large tank ensures fewer trips to the sink for refills while you clean, and the auto-mixing feature ensures proper mixing of cleaning solutions.

Easy controls make cleaning a snap. Use the solution mixture to wash your carpet, and then switch to water rinse to ensure no residue is left behind. Then, the Hoover Power Scrub Elite Pet carpet cleaner directs hot air toward your carpet as it cleans, so it dries quicker.

We loved how our carpet looked after the cleaning was done. Even high-traffic areas that had previously been flattened down looked next-to-new again and continued to after which we both commented on.

The handheld tools for smaller areas or spot-cleaning are also really helpful as well! The product comes with an accessory bag for handy storage as well.

It’s also worth noting that this product isn’t just for carpet. The Hoover Power Scrub Elite can wash and scrub sealed wood, vinyl, tile and grout from all angles. Also important to note considering the type of messes you’d clean up with this, the brushes are treated with antimicrobial materials to help prevent odor and bacteria forming.

You can learn more about the Hoover Power Scrub Elite (MSRP $189.99) at Hoover.ca and look for it in store at places like Best Buy and Canadian Tire!

  • This looks like a great product. Love the hand held wand for use on the stairs. That would be great for the couch as well!

  • No dogs at home, but with two kiddos under the age of 3 we could use all the carpet cleaning we can get! lol

  • I have two dogs one that is a puppy and she makes messes all the time. I have a bissell steam cleaner that I’m really not impressed with.

The Hoover looks like it may be a better option for us.

  • My 10 year old Bissell gave up the ghost six months ago and I bought a cheapo (and terrible) replacement (rhymes with Burt Bevel) until I get a new heavier duty model. The Hoover could be a contender.

  • I have carpet through my whole house and I need to clean the carpet every few years but instead of paying professionals this would be way cheaper.

  • wow now that is a machine!! love that there is a tank for clean water and dirty water and a wash and rinse mode. my carpets could totally use this

  • Not sure who to blame for our dirty carpets: the 10 lb dog, or the 3 giant teenagers wearing running shoes. Hmmm…

  • We have 3 cats in our family so this hoover looks like something we could really use as well in our house!

  • This looks awesome! Our carpet cleaner just bit the dust last month and we need to replace it. This Hoover one is less expensive and has all the features of the one we were looking at buying.

  • My dog is tiny, but it’s AMAZING how much fur comes off of his little body – my house is covered in it, a good vacuum makes my life so much easier!

  • We have carpet in the basement and on the stairs leading to the basement; it’s an off-white colour but looks darker because it needs cleaning. This machine looks like it would be easy to use. I’ve considered renting a machine from the grocery store but they’re so large and bulky.

  • The Hoover Power Scrub Elite sounds amazing!I like how it directs hot air toward the wet spot as it’s cleaning so it dries faster. I like all the features of this Hoover cleaner.

  • Our 2 cats and our pug, Dexter, shed like crazy so i could definitely use a vacuum geared towards picking up pet hair like this one.

  • This Hoover sounds like something I could have definitely used a month ago. My dog was quite sick for a couple weeks and threw up on carpet many times. I have never looked into a home carpet cleaner as I figured they would not really do much and just always get professionals into clean.

  • Wow I can already feel the power of the machine just by reading your post! Heavy duty! I would love to do my floors & carpets with this for such an amazing feeling of CLEAN.

  • This is the first time I’ve heard of this and I am definitely putting it on my wish list! I honestly prefer carpet over hardwood floors but it gets so dirty quickly (ours is an ivory colour, and we have a dog too)… this Hoover seems like the perfect solution.

  • I may have to get one myself!! I have three kids plus a new puppy with carpets everywhere!! I think a carpet cleaner is a must now!!
