Back To School Shopping – Like Pulling Teeth, But…No, It’s Like Pulling Teeth

I love back to school shopping. When I do it alone.

In a recent TV segment at Global Regina, one of the tips I shared on back to school shopping was to do it alone if you could. Not only does it keep you focused and less likely to overspend on all the requests from your kids, it’s also much less stressful this way.

Of course, there are certain instances where you may need to bring the kids along, especially when it comes to clothing and shoes. You can always, of course, purchase clothing without the kids and take your chances on a possible return (always check the store’s return policy in this case). It also depends on the age. My girls, at 9 and 6 years old, are 100% more likely to love most everything I buy them to wear, whereas my son, at 13, is not.

I take two approaches when shopping for clothing for him. The first, and easiest, is the text approach. I snap photos of what I think he may like, and with a one or two word reply I know instantly. I stopped at Premium Label Outlet here in Regina on my way out to dinner with friends and managed to find a few great shirts for him quickly with this method.

Still, this approach has it’s limits and as a mom of a teenager I do want to spend time with my boy, and while back to school shopping may not be his favorite, this is one way to do it. And so, last week, we headed back to Premium Label Outlet knowing that all their fall and back to school gear was arriving in store daily.

Inside this warehouse-style location you’ll find spacious shopping, giving you the opportunity to step back and actually see the products (which can be rare in an outlet). Clothing is so well organized, you don’t have to shuffle through a bunch of tee-shirts to find your size because they are all arranged by size. Yes, find your size section and start shopping!

Everything is always well displayed and clean when I visit and I love the attention to detail (on the hoodies and jackets, for example, the sleeves are tucked into the pockets on every single one on the rack!) While shopping for him, I also found items for my oldest daughter as well – look at those hoodies!

Premium Label Outlet has my guy covered from top to bottom, literally, with hats, underwear, socks, belts and shoes to complete the look.

AND, just like last year, when you spend $200 in store, you get to choose any backpack up to $60 from a HUGE store selection absolutely free.

My son wears hoodies throughout the school year – I joke that the t-shirts he wears aren’t a big deal because you rarely see them under the hoodies until June. Premium Label Outlet is my hoodie-stock-up shop! I found him hoodies from DC, Element, Hurley, Billabong, Fox and Quicksilver all at a discounted price, along with some tanks on sale for our winter holiday.

You simply can’t go wrong adding Premium Label Outlet to your back to school shopping stops. Huge selection, a clean and well organized store, discounted prices and friendly staff are top reasons why I’m a regular customer here in Regina. Look for Premium Label Outlet locations in Regina, Saskatoon (new!), Edmonton, Langley, Prince George and Kelowna!
