I have a thirteen-year-old son now.
My kid is thirteen.
My kid is a teenager.
If I ever wished for the long sleepless nights to go by faster, I take it all back now. I want that time back! I know I can’t, and so, I need to go forward ensuring that I’m raising the best teenager I can, hoping that his dad and I are giving him the guidance and tools needed to do that.
Knowing that he will be driving in just a few short years is terrifying. I’m not sure which parent has more peace, the one in a small town knowing that you’ll know all the other kids in the car but your child will likely be on back roads and out of town or the parent in a city knowing that your child can be on the other end of the city with kids you don’t know.
So, when I learned about kartSTART presented by Toyota last year we were definitely IN. My husband and son participated together and we all think it was a benefit to have this day together.
kartSTART driver education program is a unique family driving education program that is designed to give teenagers and their families a true–real world–understanding of the physics behind driving a motorized vehicle. The one-day experience gives kids – age 10 and over – a driving experience in a vehicle fit for them, a go-kart! The instructors give kids and understanding of the physics of driving a motorized vehicle, for example, what happens when you take a sharp corner too fast, in a closed course environment.
Then, families that attend the kartSTART program are shown the the latest safety developments in road cars. Toyota is well known for their commitment to safety and have vehicles available to demonstrate the safety systems contained within. This gives the entire family a better understanding of how to make the most out of the STAR safety systems available to them in Toyota passenger vehicles.
kartSTART is cruising through Regina July 14 – 16 at 3 Flags Motorsports Park (Lumsden) with sessions in the morning and afternoon to choose from.
