Tara Puts Armor All To Work {Review + Giveaway}

By Tara Richter

Spring is my favorite time of year for beautiful weather, long days, and for the most part, a lack of mosquitoes. There is one thing, however, that I absolutely despise, and that is spring cleaning my vehicle after a long, cold-winter. Each spring my car welcomes me with a thin layer of dust on everything, crumbs, garbage, random shoes, sweaters and blankets, and for some reason big piles of sand in and around the floor mats. The first cleaning is the one I dread the most, but lucky for me this time I had the chance to try out some great car-care products from Armor All.

I’m not a stranger to this brand and ever since I was a little girl my mom used Armor All for cleaning the interior of all her vehicles. It became the house-hold name and gold-standard for car-care. Just as Kleenex is to facial tissue, Armor All is to car care products. In fact, Armor All has been around for more than 50 years and has a full line of products for every car and truck owner.

My blue Ford Focus was in desperate need of a good cleaning today. Before I could get to washing, I plugged in my mini shop-vac that I picked up years ago (also ironically, an Armor All product) and set out to suck up all traces of winter from my interior. Unfortunately, the condo I live in doesn’t have exterior water taps, so I went with the provided Armor All pail, hot water, a micro-fiber mitt, and the Wash & wax + Protect cleaner to start with. I was shocked at just HOW dirty the car was on the outside, and I ended up doing two-rounds of soap/water just to remove the dust and dirt. The Wash & Wax+Protect has a really pleasant scent and worked awesome to clean the exterior of the vehicle without leaving a filmy residue.

Next I used the Armor All Cleaner Paste Wax. I was a little intimidated by the idea of waxing my car, but after reading the provided instructions, it really didn’t appear there was much to it (and there wasn’t). I channeled my inner Karate Kid, wax on – wax off, and set out waxing and buffing the vehicle. I was really impressed with how easy the product was to use, how fast the application was, and how nice of a finish/shine it left on the car. Just as I was in the midst of the buffing stage, the rain clouds appeared overhead and there was a quick little sprinkle. Nothing makes it rain, like cleaning one’s car. Thankfully it was over quick and I was able to finish the job!

For those of you wondering if you have to do this waxing application all the time, the answer is No! Armor All has two great products that can be used between washing/waxing. The first is the Spray Detailer that cleans and shines by removing dirt and residue. The second is the Spray Wax which can be used wet or dry for touch up areas of the exterior of the vehicle for high-gloss shine. I definitely plan on using both of these products to maintain that shiny-glossy car look.

With the exterior looking amazingly shiny and sparkly, I moved on to the interior to wipe away all traces of dust & scuff marks. I have to say the Armor All Original Protectant Wipes are probably my absolute most favorite of all the products. These wipes stay moist, are lint free and seriously revitalize the vinyl, rubber and plastic surfaces in the vehicle. Furthermore, the Protectant Wipes also prevent cracking, discolouration and fading of the interior surfaces. I used quite a few wipes today to wipe down the interior, but they are super durable, stay moist a long time, and they don’t fall apart in your hands as you get into all the little nooks/crannies. Now that everything is looking brand new, I’m definitely going to take the advice on the container and leave the remaining wipes in the car for quick touch ups here and there. With the Moisture Lock lid, wipes are guaranteed to stay moist for at least a year! Chances are next time I’ll only need to use one or two to keep things looking fresh & clean.

The final touch on the car was clear, sparkling windows. The Armor All Extreme Glass Cleaner is simply put, awesome! The cleaner comes out of the aerosol can in a foam-like consistency that doesn’t spray all over or drip. It’s got some serious cleaning power too and can remove stubborn dirt, bugs, water spots and more. With plenty of road-trips coming up (and subsequent bug splatter on the windshield) this is definitely a product I’ll be making repeated good of all summer long.

Despite the time I spent vacuuming, scrubbing and wiping down the car today, the reward of such a clean vehicle is SOOO worth it. I absolutely love getting into a clean car, and the products by Armor All will ensure that I can have a shiny car, inside & out, all summer long.
