Looking For Summer Dresses? Try My {not so} Best Kept Secret!

Summer is just about here and it’s the season of weddings, graduations, baby showers and more! Gone are the days of leggings and a sweater. Now is the time to show off those legs in the sun in a fun, fitted and functional dress. Yes, those three attributes can go together, but it’s not an easy find. A dress for a thirty-something to wear to her bestie’s May baby shower may not be the same style loved by the aunt of the groom at a July wedding. Depending on your age, the selection of dresses can dwindle quickly – there seems to be a space missing if you’re over twenty-five yet under sixty.

Last week I picked up not one, not two, but three summer dresses that will carry me through all the events I have this summer! I was so impressed – and surprised, to be honest – with the selection of dresses at Mark’s that I’ve recommended that a few friends and family visit their local store on their hunt for summer event dresses already. Mark’s is so not the store it was even five years ago, friends.

For The Bridal Shower, Baby Shower, and Patio Lunches

Me dreaming about the kids in summer camp…

For these events and more, I picked this Denver Hayes Floral V-Neck Smocked Mesh Dress ($49.99). From the website: With a pretty, all-over floral print, this nylon mesh dress from Denver Hayes is ideal for lightweight summer wear. The sleeveless dress has a flattering V-neck, smocking on the bodice and a stylish high-low hem. The elastic waist provides a comfortable fit. This attractive style can be worn on its own on hot days or layered under a jacket when it’s cool.

For Shopping Dates, Park Visits and Weekend Adventures

It’s overused but I’m doing it. #Blessed

I love maxi-dresses and have some definite favorites in my closets. This Denver Hayes Palm Print Burnout Blouson Maxi Dress ($59.99) is my summer go-to maxi dress now because it’s so easy to throw on for everything from a lunch with girlfriends to a day adventure to the lake. From the website: An elegant blouson bodice with rouching at the seams adds a subtle feminine twist to this printed maxi dress. Made from a comfortable easy-care polyester-rayon blend, this dress comes with an elasticized waist for added comfort. The scoop neck and shoulder-exposing Denver Hayes design is perfect for warm summer weather.

For Date Night, Weddings, and Just Because It’s So Pretty So I’m Wearing It!

They don’t call it the Queen City for nothin’.

My new favorite dress, I almost missed this Sung Alfred Sung Eyelet Ruffle Hem Dress ($54.99) on my way to purchase the other two. Quickly doing a spin, I returned to the change rooms to try this one on too and adore it (it’s also generously sized, ladies, mine is a size XS!) From the website: This casual dress has a carefree design that’s perfect for sunny weather. The fabric features solid and eyelet lace stripes and the dress is fully lined for comfort. The summer dress has an A-line design with a slight flare at the hem for a loose, flattering fit. Front and back darts and a fitted bodice provide extra shaping. It’s made from a lightweight and breathable cotton blend fabric, with a hint of stretch for flexibility.

All three dresses can be found at Mark’s in store and online and…are you ready for it…are all machine washable! Every busy woman, mom or not, appreciates that!
