Grab That Mother Tucker

mother tucker leggings

I love wearing leggings in the winter, with long chunky sweaters or under a sweater dress. Last winter, I didn’t like wearing leggings so much, because I didn’t like the way my thighs looked, and when I did I had to ensure the sweater was bulky because leggings always seemed to stop too short at the waist. You know the look – the band of the leggings sits just below or at your belly button, giving any hint of a muffin-top full ability to share it’s glorious bump with the world. I hated that!

This winter, I love leggings, I love sweater dresses, and that’s of course thanks to 20+ pound weight loss. Still, I’m a mom of three and my belly has stretched and then went back to size three times. It’s not as flat, taut, and ab-tastic as I’d like (I know the abs are in there somewhere!) so I of course use little tricks to make me feel more confident when I’m wearing a sweater dress that’s more clingy than baggy. First, you need to ensure the leggings come up high enough to cover your stomach and that means way past your belly button.  Next, find leggings that offer support around your tummy. While a $12 pair of leggings is cute, if that super-soft brushed fabric has no support, you’re pretty much wearing nylons.

If you haven’t heard about Belly Bandit leggings yet, let me be the first to share with you how amazing these babies are. Back in 2011 I reviewed the Mother Tucker Compression Tank by Belly Bandit, shortly after having my third child. As I mentioned back in that post, I don’t like the feeling of being squeezed into something, so when I was offered Mother Tucker Leggings, I wondered if I’d hate them if they were really squeezing my waist.

I’m happy (so happy!) to report that Mother Tucker Leggings by Belly Bandit are super comfortable to wear, and don’t make me feel – ur – compressed in any way, except that they make sure everything is nicely tucked in, nice and smooth, and looking good.

At $109.99 through Well.ca, they’re certainly not priced like pair of nylons, and more like brand-name yoga pants, but I’ve paid the same for yoga pants that didn’t tuck me in. A quick search online also found this US brand at BabyJoy.ca.
