This fall, now that I have my weekday afternoons free, I’ve been finding some awesome ways to fill them. Lunch dates with girlfriends are at the top of my list, along with leisurely strolls in the grocery aisle or actually having time to try on clothes at the mall. Not as awesome, time to workout on the treadmill. I’m sure you can guess which I like to do more!
When out shopping I’ve been collecting bits and pieces of autumn decor – it’s amazing what just a touch of pumpkin can do! Hallmark stores are always a great stop for decor and inspiration for all events and seasons. Right now they’re full of autumn and Halloween decor ideas, with unique, quality items that can be pulled out year to year.

The above are two of my favorite fall decor items that Hallmark Canada sent me. The Large Fabric Pumpkin ($19.95) is crafted in a perfect herringbone fabric and is one of those pieces you’ll be pulling out year after year to add to your decor. And this Medium Candle Holder/Vase is my absolute favorite new Hallmark item.
Here’s why, you can add Hallmark’s wax-like votive flameless candles (they come in a pack of 4 and 2 fit nicely in it) and then decorate it for each season! Right now I have a fall garland wreath around the bottom, and closer to Christmas I will add a holly wreath or maybe a snowflake wreath!
The Large Fabric Pumpkin fits perfectly on my entry-way table with my other fall decor too! Of course, in a household with young kids it’s helpful to have a fabric pumpkin on a lower shelf and keep my glassware up high – this definitely is a family-friendly decor item.

I pull out the leaf garland and I also love to have my trusty red pick up truck on the mantle… in the winter it has a Christmas tree in the back but in the fall it carries Pumpkins 🙂

I tend to use candles more than anything for fall decor. I have a few Hallowe’en decorations that I use, like a door wreath.
Pumpkins and scarecrows
I decorate with autumn-inspired dolls/ scarecrows, ornamental corn cobs, silk autumn flowers and leaves, as well as ornamental pumpkins and other gourds. I like to put the flowers and leaves in canning jars and old crocks, and the smaller gourds and corn cobs along with some leaves in wicker baskets. I also try to get up my autumn leaves (silk-like) garlands if I can.
To decorate for fall, I use pumpkin-scented candles, pumpkin decorations, mum plants…
