Giveaways and Reviews

It’s a #ThankYouMom Giveaway!

Today, August 12, Olympian Rosie MacLennon steps onto the world stage in Rio for the Women’s Individual Trampoline Qualification. Canadians have been waiting to see Rosie, as she is favored by many based on her previous Olympic performance in London 2012 where she brought home a Gold Medal for Canada.

Canadians are celebrating and rejoicing in the strong performance our Canadian Girls have put forth in these games so far. Penny Oleksiak’s Gold Medal win in 100m Freestyle this week was a big moment for us. Every time I watch our Canadian athletes compete, it’s the parents in the stand that make me catch my voice in my throat. I can’t help smiling wide watching their reactions, and wondering what it must be like to see their baby on the world stage.

Jane MacLennon, proud mom of Rosie, recently wrote a blog for Huffington Post Canada where she explained that while the rest of us are watching Olympian Rosie MacLennon, to her family she’s just Rosie.

She wrote stories in her grade one journal about becoming an Olympian. I don’t think she knew what made an Olympian; just that she wanted to march with the Canadian flag in the opening ceremonies.

US Olympian Ryan Murphy penned a letter and drawing saying he wanted to be an Olympian and break world records when he was 8 years old. It seems like a few Olympians had a sixth sense about their futures! Jane MacLennon says that “Fun turned into Rosie’s passion; her dream became more real when she started competing internationally at age 11. ”

Rosie is the perfect match for Tide’s “Small but powerful” campaign both physically and mentally. An international judge once told Rosie she would never make it because she had the wrong body (powerful legs; short stocky frame). For many, this would have been devastating and an excuse to give up. But we talked about her goals. Her small but powerful body has become the source of her success — her mental toughness to face adversity and challenge is her key strength.

P&G Brands have partnered with Rosie and Jane MacLennon as part of their #ThankYouMom campaign highlighting the relationships between moms and their Olympians and how the road to the Olympics are truly a family journey, culminating with those moments seeing the faces of the parents in the stands! To celebrate all things Olympics and being small but powerful we’ve got a Tide giveaway to share!
