Just a Little Bit More (My Free Time, That Is)

One of the (many) things I love about summer are the long extended days. We’re often still outside in the backyard well after 9PM, a time that – in the winter months – the kids would already be snuggled in bed asleep. The longer days give us more time to get things done, but also more time for leisurely activities like playing on the trampoline, reading a book on the deck, or just visiting with friends.

This spring, my family gave me exactly what I was lusting after for months – a new gorgeous bike! Until this summer, I had not ridden a bike for over a decade, pre-kids! Other things got in the way, my hours in the days filled up, and something as leisurely and carefree as riding a bike didn’t make it anywhere near my (many) lists.

I can’t tell you how much fun it’s been to get back on a bike again, and something wonderful happened as a result. My eight-year-old daughter, tired of waiting for her dad and training-wheels-spinning sister, has relished in being able to take off ahead with me. In fact, we go out on our own a few evenings each week for bike rides just the two of us. It gives us great exercise, of course, but also a chance to chat, be silly, and spend some quality one-on-one time together in a family of five.

So, when I saw the #MyFreeTime contest from Scotiabank on Facbeook, I knew exactly what my answer would be! I would love to have even more time to spend on biking adventures with my daughter. Free up your time with online and mobile banking, and imagine what you would do with it!

Comment on Scotiabank’s Facebook page here or Tweet @Scotiabank using the hashtag #MyFreeTime with your answer, and you could win 1 of 3 $1500 grand prizes or weekly gift cards! It’s that easy!

If I won, I think I’d invest in new bikes for my three kids – after all, it isn’t fair that mom is the only one that gets to look this good!

Scotiabank is an award-winning leader in online and mobile banking, offering best-in-class mobile and online capabilities as well as an expanded Mobile Wallet experience. I love using both mobile and online banking to make my life easier, and it’s just one less thing to check-off on my long lists.

This summer I’m working to find more ways to free up more time, for more bike rides and whatever else we find along the way!
