Does Your Home Need a Venta Airwasher?

Venta AirwasherThe name may be a little odd (“Air washer? How do you wash air?”) but the product itself is ingenius. Transitioning from summer to fall on the Canadian prairies can do a number on your skin, but for the most part we’re rather used to the air. You see, the prairies are notoriously dry, so in the summer we have a dry heat and in the winter…well, don’t get me started! Our -40 Celcius winters literally makes your face hurt. Indoor heating keeps us warm and toasty, of course, but can produce problems especially if you have family members prone to allergies, colds, or even headaches. Having a healthy balance of the air in your home is ideal, but seldom managable with your furnace alone.

The Venta Airwasher combines a humidifier and an air purifier to keep the air in your household a perfect balance, whatever the season. Going into fall, and back to school germy season (that’s what I call it!) I was eager to have the Venta Airwasher in our household, especially after watching this video:

It makes total sense – use water to add humidity to your indoor air while also removing airborne bacteria, dirt and allergens from the room. This is exactly what our household needed, with three active kids and a dog.

My son probably suffers the most from the indoor air quality. He sleeps with an air purifier fan in his room, yet still wakes up every morning in the fall sneezing and blowing his nose. No, he doesn’t have a cold. He’s allergic to mold, verified by a pediatric allergist, though I assume dust doesn’t make him comfortable either.

The Venta Airwasher LW15 is best for small rooms, is efficient for spaces up to 200 sq feet and humidifies dry room air while simultaneously purifying it by removing dust, pollen, pet dander, and other allergens. With no filter to replace, I feel better about its continual use in our house (I often wonder how efficient some of the products in homes are when people forget to change the filters, yikes!)

We’re using the Venta Airwasher LW15 this winter to keep our home’s air cleaner. I can’t wait until we can throw open the windows and enjoy our glorious Saskatchewan spring. Until then, which let’s face it is still another 3 months away, we’re staying healthy indoors.

  • I have this Venta Airwasher in white and used it all winter last year. LOVED it. As soon as it gets dry enough inside I will be pulling it out again for this winter. It is fantastic. Keeps the air clean. I take my normal air cleaner and put it elsewhere in the house when I use the airwasher.
