A review of 29 studies from seven countries published Tuesday in the Journal of Neurosurgery: Pediatrics found that tens of thousands of children have been harmed by falling TVs in recent years, and the numbers are climbing. Flat screen TV’s are often placed on high furniture, some of which isn’t designed to support a TV, and this is causing accidents when curious toddlers climb (as they do!) and have the TV fall on them. While an older child may get a nasty bump or scrape bumping into the TV when horsing around, a toddler can be severely injured or killed by a falling TV.
Experts recommend attaching the television to the wall, which can be done through a simple flat-screen wall-mount or through a safety strap such as the Sanus Anti-Tip Safety Strap. The price? Just $19.99 at Best Buy in stores or BestBuy.ca. It doesn’t cost a lot, and doesn’t take a lot of action on your part, to ensure your TV is safe for your children or those who may visit your household.
I prefer a wall-mount because it keeps my TV far from toddlers with sticky little hands, and gives me more room all around. Wall-mounts can very hugely in price, anywhere from $39.99 to $599.99 at Best Buy.

I still have the big, old box style tv. It is sitting inside my huge entertainment hutch which is floor to ceiling practically. I would love to make it safer and use a wall-mount tv and ditch the bulky furniture to free up more living space!

My husband bought a beautiful 42 inch smart tv and it is sitting on top of my coffee table which I am not happy about. I would love to find a mount on a stand that swivels. My family room is not that big and my layout will not allow for a wall mount but it would definitely work in the master bedroom as our tv is sitting on a table
