Fashionable (and Feel-Good!) Denim at Mark’s

There are things I love and loathe about fall. I love that fall means oversized sweaters and boots, it’s definitely a less stressful season because there’s more clothing to cover the sins of holiday eating. While summer is my favorite season, I can learn to love fall and tolerate winter. Fall typically means I switch out my shorts for leggings, but when I’m at an event, doing a segment on TV, or meeting the teacher, leggings don’t always fit the bill. And so, I would glance over at the two pairs of jeans I own, debating which are likely to still fit and which I can dress up.

I can’t remember the last time I shopped for jeans until a few weeks ago. Admittedly, the stores in the mall I think of for purchasing denim don’t cater to moms of three. I can recall this summer being in the mall trying on shorts in one of these stores and listening to a teenager and her boyfriend in the next change room debating which outfit she should buy. I needed out. I was given an ah-ha moment of enlightenment that I’ve since been sharing with my friends, and now with you all. Did you know Mark’s carries over 200 styles of quality brand-name denim? Neither did I!

It wasn’t until I visited, with a gift card in hand courtesy of Mark’s, to see for myself that I actually believed it. It’s true! Mark’s carries names like Levi’s, Silver, Buffalo and more all in a beautifully laid out shopping environment, with a great size selection and ample change-rooms for decision making. Color me impressed. There was a great sale on when I shopped, so I walked out with four pairs of jeans! I walked out of the store with more jeans in my bag than I had in my drawer at home – talk about a successful shopping trip!

Buffalo Mid Rise Straight Leg

These Buffalo Mid Rise Straight Leg jeans not only mean I have a gorgeous denim to pair with boots later this fall (or wine), they also mean I can wear slim fitting tops without worrying about muffin-top. Wanna know why? It’s because, unlike many of the jeans you’ll find at the mall, these are mid-rise jeans, meaning they don’t do up well below your belly button, but actually very near it. I’ve been wearing low-rise for so many years I actually forgot what it felt like to wear jeans that I wasn’t constantly having to be paranoid about from behind when bending over. Mid-rise means perfect fit and no, that doesn’t mean mom jeans (mid-rise, not high-rise, people!) I adore this fit.

Mark's Silver Suki Jeans

Mirror selfie! I love Silver jeans, so I picked two pairs from Mark’s on my shopping spree. I wore these Silver Skinny Joga Jeans recently for a TV segment, paired with black boots and a pretty blouse. The super-stretch fit means they fit like leggings and look fabulous with boots. In fact, theĀ  description on the tag is “Joga Jeans – Looks like denim, fits like sweats” and it’s true! Super soft and comfortable these jeans are perfect for lounging by the fire or going out for dinner. These, out of the four jeans I purchased, were the only ones where I had to go up a size (meep!) and I’m saying that’s because of the fit, and nothing else. Keep that in mind when shopping for Silver Joga jeans (and if you fit your regular size in them, don’t tell me!)

Mark's Silver Jeans

The third pair of jeans in heavy rotation since purchasing are these Silver Suki Mid Slim Boot jeans in Super-stretch fit. Described as a second-skin feel, these jeans also have a mid-rise fit but don’t feel as super-soft as the Joga style. I typically wear skinny jeans in the fall and winter, but these boot-cut jeans couldn’t be left behind. They look great with boots of course, but also work will with ballet flats and other shoes because of the classic boot cut style. I didn’t snap a pic in the Buffalo black skinny jeans I picked up, but because they were on clearance I don’t think they’re on the site either (tip: their clearance section can have some ridiculous-low pricing, check it out!)

So there’s my not-so-little secret; if you haven’t stopped in at Mark’s lately, do it! I’ll be returning there for my next pair of jeans (or yoga pants, or sweaters, or dress pants, they have it all!) and will be skipping the mall. Need to find a location near you? Use the Store Locator on the website to search. Or, you can always shop Mark’s online (they have $6.50 flat rate shipping but also offer free shipping promotions from time to time as well!)
