I’m a Swiffer Fanatic!

#SwifferFanaticLast month, this mommy blogger received an email that kind of encapsulated this job. Would I be interested in being a Swiffer Fanatic, a Proctor & Gamble Swiffer Ambassador, for the next year, and would I be interested in going to Cincinnati for a few days to P&G headquarters to learn more about the product? Without a moment of hesitation, I replied, “Swiffer me up!”

Like many of my mom friends, Swiffer has been a part of my household for more than a decade. I’m positive I had a Swiffer Sweeper before I had kids, but the usage certainly went up after our first child was born (oh the crumbs on the floor from the highchair!) and I learned to love even more Swiffer products. Swiffer generously sent me a huge box of product for my own household and another box to share with a friend, before my trip to Cincinnati.

The purpose was to share the “Swiffer effect”. You may have seen that phrase used in commercials. It’s all about that surprise and delight factor – making someone’s day by letting them discover the Swiffer Effect, how using the products can cut their cleaning time giving them more time for whatever else they wish!

Swiffer Effect

Armed with two boxes full of Swiffer goodness, I drove to my friend Crystal’s house and left a surprise delivery on her doorstep. She was puzzled as to why I was standing there with my phone, both of us looking at the big green boxes, but was thrilled once she realized what was going on. “Is this for me? Why?”

Because Swiffer is awesome, duh. And being my friend comes with benefits (to balance out the Sangria I consume in your backyard, for future reference, friends.)

This task gave the Swiffer Fanatics a glimpse into what Swiffer aims to achieve as a brand – surprise consumers with all the ways their product can help them save time cleaning, giving them more time for whatever it is they like. Remember Morty and Lee from the Swiffer commercials, sharing how they have more time for dancing after discovering the green Swiffer box on their doorstep? Swiffer Fanatics even got a personal video greeting from that dynamic duo in Cincinnati!

P&G Head Offices in CincinnatiWhile in Cincinnati the Swiffer Fanatics were immersed in a day of brand awareness, learning about Proctor & Gamble as a company (the product museum is something every throwback Thursday fan would love!), and of course the history and background of Swiffer. We even had a media expert give us all a few tips on interviews which was a session I was clearly all ears on!

 

Upon my return, I included Swiffer among my products to help busy moms for back to school!

This next year, you’ll be seeing more of my experience with the Swiffer Effect and I have a feeling there will be some creative ways to involve you, the readers, in that! As I learn more about the products and brand I’ll be sharing that with you along the way. Bloggers from across Canada and the US are part of this team, so I expect you’ll be hearing a lot from us all in the months ahead. Don’t we look like a very quiet group? 😉
