Adding a Twist to Summer Patio Dining

I feel like Summer 2015 is going to be pretty amazing, don’t you? I’m not sure if it’s because of yet another ridiculously long winter, Pinterest addiction for all things patio, or the bright and colorful displays in stores pulling us in but patio season is going to be fabulous, I just know it.

Breville Twist

New from Breville, and just in time for patio season, is the Breville Hemisphere Twist blender! It’s innovative design allows you to infuse a shot of citrus into your favorite summer drinks and recipes. I like this idea – rather than having the lime or lemon flavor get blended up with the rest of the cocktail, you’re infusing it right near the end. Voila! Patio perfect sipping and you have the secret (er…well, the blender anyway.)

Citrus Chicken MarinadeNot just for patio drinks (there’s more to enjoy on a patio beyond the drinks, it’s true!) I think the Breville Hemisphere Twist would be perfect for making this Citrus Chicken Marinade:

Citrus Chicken Marinade

Ingredients
  • 2 lemons
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions
  1. Add all the ingredients, except the lemons, to the Breville Hemisphere Twist and blend.
  2. Use the cone to add the juice of 2 lemons.
  3. Pour over chicken - if you can reserve about ½ cup for juicing on the chicken when grilling it enhances the flavor (this recipe makes enough for 4 chicken breasts with some left over).
  4. Marinade for 4-6 hours, overnight if possible, for best results!
  5. When grilling, drizzle the remaining marinade over the chicken before serving.
