When Frozen Isn’t So Magical

Ah winter in Canada. When our eyes get teary from the cold, the skin on our hands gets red and rough, and our faces get itchy as soon as the cold winds blow. Why do we live here? I ask myself this every winter while I scout sunny beach vacation spots, but because Saskatchewan is where I call home I need to learn to adapt rather than jet out as I wish I could.

Step one of adapting to the Canadian winter climate is ensuring I have the right skin care available. I know immediately if I forget step one because if I don’t moisturize my face in the winter, it’s itchy an hour or so after I get out of the shower! The air in my house is dry, and the winter air isn’t forgiving, so I need to ensure I have my first step covered every day before I face the world.

PREVAGE-« Anti-aging Daily SerumI use a variety of products on my skin, and my choice changes with the climate and my skin care needs. One of my favorites, available at Shoppers Drug Mart, is Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum. Prevage products are amazing on my skin – they go on light and smell beautiful and the serum especially does an impeccable job with very little product needed.

While Prevage is my pick in the winter, there’s a huge selection of new skin care products for everyone in the family at Shoppers Drug Mart. I love earning Shoppers Optimum Points on participating skin care products when shopping too, and use them to redeem on special purchases just for me (like Elizabeth Arden Prevage products!)

Unsure of which skin care product is best for you? Don’t leave it to advertising alone – Shoppers Drug Mart now has a beautyRx tool to give customers their own Skin Care analysis. I want to do this myself! The Skin Care analysis consists of two steps: a Moisture Checker to determine your skin’s hydration levels and a Video Microscope which magnifies your skin 30x to help determine your skin type. After determining your skin type, a Beauty Expert can recommend skin care products to meet your needs – much more accurate and helpful than guessing based on the last commercial you saw, right?

So head over to your nearest Shoppers Drug Mart to check out their wide selection of products meant to repair and protect your winter skin. Try out the complimentary skin care consultations and don’t forget your Shoppers Optimum Card!to rack up some of those Optimum points!
