Two years ago, in our Holiday Gift Guide, we introduced readers to Sphero, a round “ball” shaped remote-controlled robot that uses your smart phone to operate. Named one of the hottest toys of the 2012 season, it was a hit! This year, the makers of Sphero are upping the ante – introducing Ollie!
Ollie has a more durable shell than the Sphero, which enables it (him?) to boogie around at speeds up to 14mph (about 22 kph) and handle more terrain.
Right now we’re just learning how to use Ollie and laughing more so at how manic it makes our labradoodle, but I can’t wait for my ten year old to master the drifts and tricks shown in this video introduction to Ollie (check it out!):
