Introducing Dyson Cinetic Cyclone Technology

Dyson DC78THAN 2Those that already know the efficiency, value and durability of a Dyson vacuum don’t  need to be convinced.  Those that have been debating a Dyson purchase? This news may just seal the deal for you (or Santa as the case may be…)

Dyson recently unveiled Dyson Cinetic technologythe only machine with no filters to wash or replace, no bags and no loss of suction.  When is the last time you actually cleaned your vacuum cleaner’s filter? Did you realize you even had to?  I leave this job to my husband on our vacuum because – let’s face it – it’s a dirty (dusty) job but it needs to be done to ensure your vaccuum runs efficiently.  But what if, Dyson wondered, you didn’t have to wash or replace your filter – ever?

Dyson’s latest vacuum uses patented Dyson Cinetic™ cyclone technology. 54 cyclones with high-frequency oscillating tips vibrate to prevent the cyclone aperture from clogging. The cyclones are so efficient at dust separation, Dyson Cinetic™ doesn’t require filters to be washed or replaced, so you have one less thing to think about.

Amazing!  But, does this technology work and does the lack of filter impact a Dyson’s performance at all?  We tested the new Dyson DC78 Turbinehead and (spoiler!) we weren’t disappointed.

DC78 TurbineheadMoving into our new house, one of my biggest frustrations is how quickly our stairway can collect lint, dirt, dust and who knows what else after five people and one canine have trotted up and down them over the course of a week.  Still, vacuuming my stairs isn’t on my list of favorite things to do (understatement!) so it doesn’t get done as often as it should.  I was also using my upright vacuum which meant using an extention and tool because there was no way I would haul the vacuum step by step to clean each one.  I was eager to see if the Dyson DC78 Turbinehead could make my cleaning easier and hopefully then help keep our stairway clean if I could vacuum it more often.

DC78 TurbineheadI was happy to see how perfectly the DC78 Turbinehead fit on my stairs.  It’s super-light to lift (about 17 pounds) and the base on it keeps it sturdy on the stairs, I don’t have to worry that it will topple down when I’m busy vacuuming.

All of the vacuum’s key components are housed within the ball itself, including the electronics, the motor, the pre-motor filter and 6.5m of power cable. This creates a low centre of gravity and provides stability. Dyson Ball™ canister vacuums have a central steering mechanism, so they follow accurately as you pull them along.

The powerful turbinehead took care of everything left on the stairs, and then some!  Then, once we were at the top, quickly vacumming all the bedrooms and bonus room were a breeze with such a light vaccuum.  Now that we have a dog in the house, even though she is non-shedding, it’s even more important to ensure we get rid of all allergens (a point to note, our pediatric allergist laughed at me when I announced our hypoallegenic dog and reminded me that all dogs have dander, which is a good point.)

Other vacuums often have inefficient cyclones, which means that microscopic particles like mould spores and pollen make their way through to the filter. If the machine isn’t properly sealed, these allergens and other microscopic particles escape back into the home.

Dyson cyclones capture particles down to 0.5 microns – including pollen, mould and bacteria. They expel cleaner air.

While our second level is wall to wall carpet, our main floor is hardwood. It’s great to have one vacuum that takes care of everything.  A simple switch out of the turbinehead with the Articulating hard floor tool, and we were ready for the hardwood. Love the ease and versatility of the Dyson DC78 Turbinehead! You can read about all the features of the Dyson DC78 Turbinehead here!

The Articulating hard floor tool has soft nylon bristles that gently remove dust and dirt from wood and other delicate floors. It pivots 180° and has an ultra-slim profile to reach into the awkward gaps between cupboards and units more easily. There are two bristle curtains: the first removes large debris, while the second seals the tool to prevent suction leaking.

Look for Dyson products at your favorite Canadian retailers like Walmart, Costco, Home Depot and Canadian Tire this holiday season.
