Peace of Mind With the Sophia Video Baby Monitor

LevanaBy Tara Richter…

Have you ever wondered what baby is up to while they are in the crib? Or came in to the room after a nap and wondered how on earth they ended up in “that” position? I know there must be many parents who wonder how their dear son or daughter managed to climb OUT of a crib as well, as is the case with my 2 year old niece!

There is a tremendous peace of mind that comes from knowing your little bundle of joy is safe and sound, especially when you’re at a distance. The Sophia Video Baby Monitor by Levana, named after the Roman goddess who kept watchful eye over sleeping children, gives parents (and babysitting Auntie’s like me) that confidence they need to go about their business without worry.

Despite the fact that I don’t have a baby (as my “baby boy” is now 10 years old), I’m a frequent visitor to my brother and sister-in-law’s to babysit their now 4 month old son. As new parents, my brother and sister-in-law were naturally concerned about leaving the room while their dear son slept, especially with all the talk about SIDS. Having the Sophia Video Baby Monitor has provided a huge sense of relief for them (and me), knowing that baby is safe and that they can keep an eye on him without having to be at his side. The monitor is extremely easy to set up; just plug it in & turn it on and it works!

I was blown away at the advances in technology in just ten years from the old static sounding, terrible quality baby monitor I had for my own son. This felt like a jack-pot with its crystal clear sound, and vibrant full-colour screen! My sister in law commented that she loved the fact that is wireless and can be taken anywhere in the house or even the backyard, making it very handy. In addition, the size is that similar to a modern-day cell phone – whereas the “old” versions similar to what I had 10 years ago would be the equivalent of the large “brick” style phone.

product---brand-page-image_01There are three key features of this baby monitor that I love and that really make it stand out above the rest. First is the 15-ft night vision camera so you can see what’s happening even in low light or darkness. Second is the two way intercom with the 500ft ClearVu® digital signal that allows you to either talk to baby, or talk to your partner from the baby’s room. Unlike my old baby monitor that would pick up on the conversations of my next door neighbors, the Sophia Baby Monitor with the ClearVu® digital signal is interference free so that no one but you can view. Finally, the third feature I love is the 48-hour battery life in the power saving PEEP mode (Power-on/off Energy Efficient Picture). This PEEP mode means that the camera goes into sleep mode saving valuable battery until your baby makes a peep, upon which it turns on again to allow you to see exactly what is going on.

Other great features of this baby monitor include:
• LED Volume Indicator showing colors for white noise and baby cries
• Temperature Monitoring of baby’s room, so you know if it’s too hot/cold
• Gentle Nightlight for soft ambience and a relaxing atmosphere for baby – it can even be turned on/off without entering the nursery!
• Adjustable brightness on the monitor for glare under sun, or when in a dark room
• Expandable up to 4 cameras (wall-mountable) to allow for viewing of 4 areas in your home that the monitor can scan including inside or outside of the nursery

I have a huge amount of confidence in the makers of the Sophia Video Baby Monitor, as Levana exclusively manufactures baby monitors allowing them to perfect the product to suit the needs of parents. Sophia, meaning wisdom, really is a perfect name for this monitor as its creation is so wise with all the features a parent needs to feel at ease with their baby. As my sister in law commented, it will be a long-term feature in their house as their dear son becomes more and more mobile in the upcoming months, and will allow them to see exactly what that little monkey is up to.

The Levana Sophia Video Baby Monitor is available for purchase on Amazon.com or on MyLevana.com at the suggested retail price of $89.99.
