Lisa’s Dream Stroller

phil and teds navigator reviewBy Lisa Dutton…

When I was pregnant with my second baby, I thought long and hard about what I really “needed” to prepare for this one. What did I learn from my first baby? I learned that cheaping out on a stroller is a bad idea. The fact my “bargain” travel system didn’t hold up for use with our second child speaks for itself.

I knew I wanted a great stroller; and with a fall due date, I knew it needed to function well in a Saskatchewan winter. I found my dream stroller in Phil&Teds Navigator. Yes, while most people long for their dream car…this mama had her heart set on a dream stroller!

The Phil&Teds new Navigator model is a game changer in the world of stroller safety.  It is the world’s first Auto Stop inline.  It seems every mom has a story about that heart-stopping moment her stroller ‘rolled’ away on her.  You see it happen in parking lots, at parks.  We have heard news reports about strollers rolling onto subway tracks.  There are times many of us have innocently stepped away from our stroller thinking that braking it isn’t even necessary.  The new Auto Stop technology literally puts an END to this risk.  It’s a simple option on your Navigators handle.  Hold this slim red handle down while you are pushing. When you let go of the handle, it pops up, and the stroller stops automatically.  No braking levers to fuss with.  This slim red bar takes no extra pressure to hold down, you don’t even notice it (it’s made out of the same material as the handle bar).  The stroller handle itself is easily adjustable to your height.

navigator-kerb-popThe Navigator is truly all terrain. I am already using it among a foot of snow. As I pass other mom’s struggling on our sidewalks…I want to tell them how much easier a proper stroller makes your day to day activities. The Navigator is ultra light to handle and pops up over curbs like nobody’s business. While this ride is simple and sporty, it comes with more adaptability than ever before. The Navigator has 26 riding options to adjust to your families evolving lifestyle! It can safely carry 1 or 2 newborn babies up to 2 tots.

One unique option is in the Navigators ‘double kit’…that can now face you! This add-on seat can be placed rear facing, so you can bond with baby as you move. The new double kit design has better head and neck support, easy recline, and a sun cover for your equally precious back seat baby.

Ideal for parents of twins, the Navigator can now take two capsules as a travel system. Take one or two babies in their car seats, or one baby with a toddler in the double kit, using navigator car seat adaptors for most leading car seat brands.

Tires are something people are starting to pay more attention to when investing in a good stroller. Rubber is key. The Navigators 12” air filled tires are tough, and stand up to our messy gravel covered streets. They keep the ride smooth for baby. You have the option of locking the front wheel straight for jogging, switch to swivel for shopping.

Phil and Teds Navigator Stroller ReviewThe Navigator is 27 lbs, and 23” wide. Sometimes when I turn a tight corner in a crowded store, and I am shocked I don’t hit anything! I can fold up the stroller with 1 hand and have yet to use curse words while putting it in the hatch.

The Phil&Teds website is as slick as their strollers. You will have no trouble picking out the proper car-seat adapter, which proved simple to install. The main seat (25”H) has multiple seat positions, from flat lying to fully upright. I love the sleek shape of the sun hood, which comes with handy storage pockets on each side. The Navigator comes in 4 different colours. While I chose classic black…the boldness of the cherry and midnight blue was hard to resist, with graphite being an option as well! This stroller gets noticed.

As I cruise through our long Saskatchewan winter, I can’t wait to use the Navigator in the summer! My older son is pumped about the Freerider Stroller Board which he actually just put on his list for Santa! I myself plan to add a few Phil&Teds accessories to my Christmas list, including a cup holder (mom often travels with latte). Cheers to the Navigator…my dream stroller!
