Summertime and the Baking’s Easy…

easy bake ultimate oven

Did you know that Easy Bake has celebrated their 50th anniversary?  Did you also know that I never had an Easy Bake oven as a kid?  OK, maybe that second tidbit of information isn’t nearly as important to you as it is to me, but I felt the need to point that out lest my older sister be reading this.  I envied these ovens as a kid and wanted one badly.

How could a little girl not want one?  You could like, bake things in there!

The great news is in that 50 years of product development, Easy Bake has not only changed the look of their ovens into a more stylish, modern, oven but they’ve also improved the baking performance and given kids a ton of new items to bake.  No plain old cupcakes here!  Just look at this list of Easy Bake mixes you can purchase to make in the Easy Bake oven!  Cake Pops, Red Velvet Cupcakes and Pretzel Dippers, oh my!

My daughters and I are going to have a blast this summer creating all sorts of delicious recipes in the Easy Bake Ultimate Oven, and we might even get my son to participate too.

That’s my one and only complaint, or suggestion as you will, for improvement.  With shows like Cake Boss, Top Chef and more on TV let’s get boys in the kitchen too!  While I’ve read news of Hasbro entertaining the idea of a black/blue/silver Easy Bake Oven last year, I haven’t seen anything on the market yet.

Put a gender neutral Easy Bake Oven on the market, Hasbro, and you’ll have my whole heart.  The little 5 year old in the early 80’s who is still pouting over not having an Easy Bake Oven might even forgive you too. 😉

  • I remember baking a lot of cakes from my easy bake oven. back then it was the ugly green ones.

  • I didn’t have one but my younger cousin did so we baked together. My mom always let the us help with the cookie making. My husband has a sweet tooth so when he want cake he bakes one himself. Some of my male cousins baked all the time. Last time I visited the grandkids and let them help make a dessert I ran out of ingredients because the ate most of it.
I got lucky last year and won a trip to New York to met the Cake Boss and try some of the products and had a blast as that was my first Trip to New York.

  • Wow! Easy Bake has really done a great job with keeping it self modern and relevent!

Very impressive the variety they have!

  • I had one and vividly remember the metal slider thing and how you’d always burn your fingers. It was worth it though, because those little cakes were gooooood. Lots of selection now, but I find they’re way too expensive IMHO.

  • I wanted one of these soooo bad when I was little! lol I can’t believe that they are still around!

  • That looks a lot different than the ones they had when I was a kid. I didn’t have one myself, but I knew people who did.
